I will watch the C4 Hoarders show later, but for anyone who wants to declutter I recommend watching Hoarders, Animal Hoarders, and Hoarding Buried Alive on the Bio channel.
The cleaners on Hoarders are very kind to the people on the show, many of whom have serious issues. It does make you think about why you hang on to stuff and I find it quite motivating.
I would also recommend watching these programmes for motivation, I'm addicted to them, as they make me feel so much better about my clutter, and I’m determined to never let my home get that bad, my house already looks like a minimalist palace by comparison, lol! Not watched the C4 one yet, but I will give it a go, and the one on BBC next week.
I'm not good at getting rid of things - I usually manage to find a new home for them somewhere behind closed doors! And in the garage or loft! It's got to stop.
I must turn over a new leaf and part with things, most things hold treasured memories eg trophies, kids cheap mothers day presses. How can I get rid of those???
I'm the same, hide it away, but I am getting better at letting things go now, however I still have problems with things that my DS has bought me, especially from when he was little, so they tend to stay.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Just found the thread but not had chance to read all the way through yet.
On Thursday I spent the day clearing up the playroom, 4 bin bags of rubbish/papers later its a lot tidier. I've claimed the desk that the DD's never use as mine and have placed all of my uni work/files into it (the dinner table can now be used for what its meant to be used for!!).
I have one bag full of clothes for the op shop.
Next job is to organise and photo items to be listed on Ebay - off to catch up on the ironing now.
Hopefully later I will have chance to read more of the thread for inspiration and ideas.
Should probably point out that im in Oz and its 8am here (I dont want you thinking I'm ironing at 11pm at night!)

So far for May I’ve got rid of:-
5 small pieces of cardboard – recycled
Plastic packaging – binned
3 premium receipt books (for policies that matured years ago) - shredded/recycled
Birthday book – CS
7 old business cards – recycled
Papers shredded/recycled
Old bank cards – shredded and binned
I had a day off today and got some ebay stuff photographed, ready for the next free listings, including a load of computer games (the type that come in big boxes), so if some of those go it will give me back a fair bit of space. I’ve got a few of these already listed from the last FLW and have a bid on one of them.

Pjran, take digital photos of the sentimental bits then say bye bye.
I've a plan to do this with most of my lo pics they bring home from nursery. There are dozens of them, can't possibly keep them all xxx
Thanks bossy moo, that's a lovely idea but I'm well past that stage my children are grown up now. When they were younger I allowed them to choose which of their artwork adorned the kitchen cupboards. They would bin their previous favourites so I didn't have to cope with any guilt :A
I'm going to clear my bathroom cupboards today, well to be honest the weather is awful again so i cant potter in the garden. I have so many half used shampoos and conditioners. I don't like wasting so can't throw them away, I'll pour one into another to fill them up. At least that will free up some space.
I realise that's why I need to declutter because I can't bear waste, I remember how much I paid for something. I need to learn how to up cycle.0 -
My 'cash for carp' update:
- Hoping to carry on clearing the attic tomorrow so more items ready for carboot sale.
- I listed 40 items last weekend on Ebay, for 10 day viewing (to avoid the BH). So far 11 have bids & another 21 have watchers, so fingers crossed.
- I'm up to 23 KGs of fabrics to take to the buyer, still working on it!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
