  • I have emerged from the bedroom! I have got rid of:
a box of melamine camping "crockery" - brother
box full of beads - niece
3 more plastic storage tubs - brother
2 bottles of Guiness - SIL
1 bottle of cider - brother
4 underbed storage drawers - brother
remains of some old bookshelves - tip
5 black bags full of clothes:eek: - charity shop in the morning
4 pairs of outgrown rugby boots - charity shop
4 pairs of outgrown trainers - charity shop

Plus bed dismantled and huge numbers of boxes packed!
    This brings me up to:
    February declutter challenge: 173/100
Boxes packed for the move: 142

Upstairs is now done all bar the bathroom, so I'll be trying to get some more done in the living room as soon as the kids are out of my way....roll on bedtime!

  • OMG, just tidied out the food cupboards. Now, I'm not one to go by best before dates - generally if it's not going green it's alright by me. However, even I have my limits, and 4 years out of date, going rusty tins are beyond me, as are jars which appear to be growing their own specimens inside (pickled onions, for the interested). I've also made use of some old roses tins to keep all my herbs and spices in one place, so made more room that way as well which I'm pleased with. Also been able to now fit some bottles and things in the cupboard that were previously on the work surface so that's good. I'm debating if I can put some of the more regularly used stuff (mugs, toaster, etc) in a cupboard so easily accessed but out of the way. I long for kitchen surfaces that look minimalist and clear. It's never going to happen.

  • Right having read through a lot of this thread I am now eager to join the 100 in a month challenge, better than just saying 3 things a day! So I know it is the 19th but I am going to join right now lol!

I have also signed up for Freecycle and Freegle although the latter doesn't seem to be very big where I am!

    Well all you inspiring people.

I have so far decluttered my bedroom which was the dumping ground of the house.
Started with the wardrobe, then chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and UNDER THE BED!!!!!!

As it's half term I decided to leave the decluttering for a week BUT as I opened the under the stairs cupboard I could smell cat p00.
Now my 2 beautiful cats do try to get in there to sleep as it is warm, full of rubbish and the tumble dryer is in there so extra warmth when I put it on but they are fully house trained so I thought the older one must have had an accident.

So that meant it had to be cleared out to find the p00.

Two hours later and a very decluttered cupboard - 6 bin bags of rubbish, 3 large bags of recycling and 4 very large bags for the CS but NO p00.
I did find the the outlet pipe for the TD had been knocked out of the vent hole which leads outside.

When I went out to put the CS bags in the garage to wait to be delivered on Monday I found a big pile of very stinky cat p00.
I think this is what I could smell through the outlet vent hole!!

Oh well at least it wasn't in the cupboard!

Well I have found the culprit!
It wasn't either cat. It was a pouch of Fel!x cat food!!

I bought 2 boxes on offer on Friday. I opened the box today and one of the pouches hadn't been sealed correctly so had gone off.
I have had every door and window open to get rid of the smell.

I have written to Fel!x enclosing the bottom of the box (couldn't send the pouch someone would have vomited on opening the envelope - my husband nearly did today!)

Oh that did make me laugh :rotfl: it sounded like you'd been in there on a mission and emerged victorious from the jungle a week later :)

Which is probably what it feels like? You're doing brilliantly though, an inspiration to those of us who have less motivation :)

I managed to [STRIKE]palm off[/STRIKE] pass onto Mum lots of plastic pots from used-up toiletries which I couldn't bear to bin cos they might come in useful, but couldn't find a use for :)

    Good luck with the move

Decluttered six primroses today, they look lovely, in a very special place.
And I'm not counting this because I never wanted rid of him, but we laid my dear hubs ashes to rest today, hence the primroses, and a pretty butterfly on a stake saying we miss you daddy.

So I'll count the flowers and the butterfly. But not the ashes :(
