I found this too yesterday - it was really good to come on here and report back what I had done and it made me feel like I didn't want to have to admit to being lazy and not doing anything!
After a shaky start OH put me to shame by completely clearing his office. He works in IT and has LOADS of computer equipment and servers he uses as a virtual lab plus lots of hard drives and cables etc everywhere but he managed to completely clear the desk, the floor, empty 3 boxes of bits, put out loads of rubbish etc.
He has however warned me not to open the floor to ceiling cupboard, just in case... :rotfl:
We are now in a position where we can tackle a small area at a time - so one shelf at a time for him and one drawer of clothing at a time for me whereas before it was so over-whelming we didn't know where to start, so we didn't.
Job for today is tidying my desk which is covered in paperwork.
Thanks for the support everyoneit's good to share!

My OH also put me to shame yesterday. He put his favourite film on and lit the fire place and then he sorted out all his magazines and the magazines that he is keeping have now been stored in a box in the sideboard. He shredded loads of his paperwork so now the living room looks a bit better. This is my last day off before going back to work tomorrow so all I am planning today is to do loads of ironing and take down the Christmas decorations. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

morning declutterers!
Am working a late shift today but want to do a little in the kitchen before I go.
The fridge is in a right state and the food cupboards need a good sort.
Was nice to get up and find the lounge all nice and clutter free and tidy this morning:jDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning everyone. Sorted my unfinished knitting projects, finished one and binned two that weren't working out (wool was 20p per cone from car boot, so not thrown good wool away)
Today have to take down the Christmas decs, then might tackle the dreaded cupboard where I shove all paperwork. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
I'm going to poundland today to see if I can get some vacuum bags and cheap storage boxes. I go back to work tomorrow and as I work full time and commute, it's not going to be a quick declutter for me. It's going to take months, one small bit at a time. I think I might start on my DVD's first and take the music magpie suggestion. :-)the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0

Can I join? I'm a self-confessed hoarder who is slowly driving a very patient DH around the bend. I've decided that I 'm going to keep track of everything that I declutter by weighing it (see my signature). I don't think that our local CS are open today, so it is all boxed up by the back door. It's sunny outside, and I'm about to tackle the washing mountain- there seems to be load of stuff that I haven't worn in months, which will be heading out to the CS once washed and dry.Surviving the ups and downs of life with DH

I really fancy going into town today but I know if I do whilst getting storage stuff I most likely will end up picking up a few things in the sale I don't need so i am going to avoid it and sort one section of my wardrobe and get things into the 2 vacuum bags I came across the other day. Need to look at a cheap shoe rack for the inside of my wardrobe since my shoes are too messy and cluttered but I can't get rid of them (maybe later in the decluttering
).

OH didn't declutter anything in the spare room but he did move things so that we can actually get into it! I found two big storage boxes full of notes from uni, which I don't need now, so once the paper recycling bin has been collected in a couple of weeks (it's full at the moment), I can get rid of all of those.
Did manage to get rid of about 5 bottles of wine NYE though :beer:0 -
I just signed up to music magpie, and have put on 23 DVD's and games so far and have an offer of £18.16!! Can't wait to get cracking with more DVD's and cd's!!!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0

That's brilliant glitterkitty, keep at it
I've had a nice cuddle and a natter with OH and am now back in my own bed gazing at my open wardrobe and wondering what else I can get rid of....probably tons of stuff! I think i need to pack away the rest of the clothes that don't fit me at the moment (although the healthy eating plan isn't going too well as yet!!) and then maybe start looking at the horror that is the space under my bed....gulp.0
