Those of you worrying that by tidying and not getting rid of things you are not decluttering, don't!
I think that it is a very important part of decluttering because it allows you to sort through your items. When they are properly organised, you will not go out and buy stuff to replace things you can't find because you will know where they are IYSWIM?
I also find that organising stuff helps to declutter your mind which helps you to declutter further. The process then continues.......

Nothing to log in the decluttering challenge - unless I count most of a tooth my Dentist drilled out today!
Mr F came in yesterday with a bag full of empty bottles he found next to a waste bin in the High Street. I washed them at the end of washing up last night - they are now in the garage - Mr F was meant to carry them down to the recycling bin when he met me from the Dentist - but forgot! :(
He had an empty bottle with him when he met me - then - on the way home - I spotted two more glass bottles - so now I have another three bottles to wash up this evening. We have a dog - can't bear the thought of glass bottles being left where they are dumped then smashed and dogs cutting their paws.

DS1 been annoying in the least today. Why do teenagers think the world revolves around them. Yes of course I have in the house all the materials needed to make a WWI trench diorama that needs to be handed in tomorrow morning:mad:.

Which has hampered my delcuttering from a snails crawl to zilch, so since Monday I have managed.

    49. 3 cheques decluttered to bank.
    50. Bears, bears and more bears book donated to work
    51. Winter jigsaw donated to work.

    Ditch 100 in January 51/100

Still I have reached the halfway mark and am trying to list an item onto ebay per day to help boost my total.

I had to smile at your post. When one of my three local DGC have a project to do - they always come to Nannie. I have some much carp - always sort them out! :o
It helps that I craft! Easter gardens / Egyptian Mummies and a Roman costume were recent ones.

I have not done any decluttering for a few days, feel seriously low and cant even be a*sed to get out of bed. Went job centre today to try and sign on after having to take some time out from studying (not by choice but circumstance) and was kildy told I have no claim to either type of JSA as I have been studying my backside off for three years trying to become a nurse so havnt actually had a 'real' job. !!!!!!!!!! mind my french but I left job centre in tears, as if i need any more pressure to get a job. I'm really trying have applied for 15+ jobs (admin, cleaner, garden centre.... I'm not being fussy) in the last week but still not heard anything.

Sorry for the rant, I just cant see any way out of the stupid mess at the moment, talk about situation making you feel worthless.

I'm off to bed now before i start crying again. xxx
  • Hi all

I've been absent for a few days and so has my motivation! However, I have continued to follow you all and it has finally returned. I think the problem was that I had reached that point where I couldn't stop (too much stuff stacked in my bedroom awaiting it's new place!!) but couldn't see what to do next which left me feeling completely overwhelmed. So last night I sat down and wrote a lust of things still to do and put them in an order that works. I also broke larger tasks into smaller more manageable tasks that can be done around real life things.

So today's plan is to paint some storage boxes which will go on the new shelves in the living room and to then start packing and storing in the boxes the stuff which needs to go back in the living room. Wish I could start now but I have work to get through first.

    Well done everyone
    Me, DH, DS10 and DS6

Jess, if you've done a fair bit of your training, would it be possible to get a job on the bank at your local hospital? It's only ad hoc work but I know a lot of people who have always been on the bank and it works for them. They will use auxiliary nurses as well as registered nurses. I was on the bank when I was a student (as well as doing agency in the community) and it's a good way of getting your face known so that when you are coming towards the end of your training, they will know you and your work ethic. You also get to hear about jobs that may be coming up in the near future. HTH's.
Sucks about the JSA though. I got pregnant in my 2nd year and didn't qualify for any maternity benefits at all so had to go back to work when DD was 3 weeks old. Uni I didn't count as a student because of the bursary, I didn't qualify as unemployed because I had 3 jobs on top of uni and I didn't qualify through any of them because I was only part time in one and casual in the others :(
