  • Please can I ask how you sell things on Facebook? I have used ebay in the past but not for ages. I really would like to start selling again but can't do carboot sales as I cannot stand for that length of time.

I had a look at Music Magpies but DVD I put in was only work 30p so not really worth it.

    Many thanks

  • I would love to join in with the mass declutter I will try although I think it will be very hard
I have a large family who love to hoard rubbish, little bits of toys, jigaws etc. Unfortunately my clutter isnt good enough to sell on so it will be heading for the tip or hopefully freecycle.
A downside to having a large family is lack of time especially as i have 3 jobs too and help in the school 2 mornings a week my decluttering will be an uphill task but i really want to try my best
Now i just need to try and find where to start Help!!!
Extra payment every week challenge £15 so far
Pay one debt in 2012 £35/£294
  • You never know you may be able to sell parts of your puzzles, games, toys etc. I had an incomplete monopoly (someone nabbed the play money) and sold it without the money, also sold a twister mat (spinner broke) to some student friends. People are always losing parts for games so someone out there may be looking for the parts you have.
  • Oooo, is it only Wednesday!?

Not much decluttering in the TRH household over the last couple of days but sold two items on ebay so will update tomorrow once they have officially left the house.

    Happy decluttering people. x

    65. Large tub of haribo snakes taken in to feed the undergraduates
    66. lego minifigure posted (ebay)

I have just sold some buttons *sniff* and the linguaphone course on ebay - which is great; will update tomorrow when they have been posted.

Celyn I LOVE your posts, always give me a little chuckle whilst on decluttering breaks. I was going to say that you'd be fab at writing a blog....until I clicked on your name and saw you already have one :)

Thank you :) I don't update as much as I'd like to - it started out as a craft blog, but at the moment, I have no time to make things, so it's more random; it's just so hard to fit everything around work

Celyn90, just read your post re the magic plate and it was so funny; brightened up my rather grey day here!

:o Thank you :) OHs mum is really into alternative therapy; which is fine, each to their own - but the amount of torture by crystals and bath salts I get put through is unreal. It's especially unnerving as she doesn't speak English and my German is restricted to being able to ask directions to the station; so I can't even stop it - or indeed predict what it going to happen. Another example below - sorry about the length; but I swear it's true (I'm pretty sure I posted it on the OS daily after it happened, but I can't find the original post)

Anyway - around the same time as the magic plate incident she also dragged me to see some loop with a microscope - to "analyse" my blood. I had no idea what's going on, I assume we are going into town or something as we all bundle into the car, but no, they turn off the main road (if this were a film, imagine that locks in the car would click down and the car would veer suddenly into a dark side street) and start for what looks like a normal part of German suburbia...

We pull up outside this bungalow - garden full of ceramic animals all pointing in the same direction (cue: silence, no bird song, creaky sign saying "Wilkommen" - sort of place you could imagine Steven King walking around jotting down notes). We get out of the car and head round the back of this bungalow - at this point, I am naively thinking it's one of her friends and we are popping in en route to town to say hi.

Round the back of this bungalow is a set of steps leading down into the basement. I am starting to get nervous here as the steps are studded with hotfix crystals and there are windchimes hanging everywhere. Further down, there is a door that wouldn't look out of place on the side of a giant mushroom which is festooned with more crystals. Door opens - greeted by a tall, thin woman draped in chiffon and crystals. At this point, I know, once again, that I've nodded at the wrong point in a conversation the previous evening and what I actually agreed to was not another cup of cat-hairball-and-gogi-berry infusion but an invitation to have my brain extracted through my nose.

Inside the basement was what looked like an interrrogation lab from a Bond film, but with crystals, windchimes and a lot of glass cases full of beaded jewellery. The whole place was lit with these mood lights that varied in colour and some whale song CD playing in the background. I am told to sit down, which I do, and spend ten minutes trying to make out what OH's mum is saying over the sound of rutting seabound mammals. I get called over and sat down in front of a microscope. Crazy person grabs my arm and sticks a needle into it; before squirting blood sample onto a slide then tells me that I eat to much sugar and my blood is full of toxins.

She then issues me with this horrific brown herbal syrup, which I am supposed to drink once before meals as it will purge the toxins. No indication of what is in it, it had a label on it with a sun and a moon and smells like something I have to write a hazard assessment for. OH has to go through the same procedure, he is told he is fine (he's rocking at this point because the mood lighting was making him feel sick) - but just hot lemon and water for him.

We get home and I start to understand how alien abuductees feel. I don't get off lightly because MiL then makes me drink this stuff. Give the woman her due, it purged my system rather more rapidly than I'd have liked _pale_ and probably quicker than cholera toxin would have done.

So I spent the rest of the day feeling like my colon had been used as a water slide listening to his mother tell me it's amazing what you can learn from looking at blood.

I put my foot down after that and refuse to have anything to do with her "wellness" ideas and OH is under strict instructions to pre-warn me of any impending threat to my sanity.

  • Long time lurker in Old Style MS, but feel compelled to join this thread! My New Year's resolution is to declutter - I'm getting fed up with having cupboards full with stuff not used in years and no where to put anything else.

I have been ruthless with my wardrobe - have managed 4 black bags full of old, shabby and ill fitting clothes and now have shelves free to have organised piles. Now to tackle the ironing to fill the wardrobe back up! Also filled a carrier bag full of socks and undies too small for DD2. Bound to be over my 100 items already!!!!!

I have watched an exercise bike on ebay sell for £88 today and I have the same one that has been used as a clothes stand for the last 6 years. Time for it to go I think!!

A few of my comments ago I mentioned that OH was on 1/100, he said to me today there you go Jess, I'm now on 2/100 in the declutter thing - whilst pointing to an empty whisky bottle he had had for christmas! MEN!!
