How horrible for you both and Mr Happy's mother. Is she well enough to be taken out of the nursing home for a couple of hours? It's the best we could do for my mother; it didn't make it okay but it was a relief for her to just see different surroundings. She could also have illicit stuff like a gin and tonic with ice and lemon in it, with a side order of hummus and little things like that make a big, big difference when life is very confined.
Sorry to hear about the car and the shower. Bummer.Better is good enough.0 -

Thanks Lucielle, Granny, Brizzle and Pooh for the hugs. They were much needed and genuinely did help. I've just had a prowl round your diaries and it seems we're all going through a rough patch just now (apart from you Brizzle - life is looking good at your end
!).

She was very unhappy in the nursing home and we also had one or two reservations about the quality of care that she was getting. Nothing serious (lumpy mattress, cold food - that sort of thing) but enough to stop her settling down there. So, last weekend we took her out for a drive and to visit a relative who is in another home nearby. As soon as she went in, she said how much nicer it was than her own and asked if she could transfer to that one! There had been no vacancies two weeks ago, but as luck would have it, a vacancy came up the day before we visited. To cut a long story short, after much frantic phoning around and re-jigging, she moved into the new home on Wednesday and is SO much happier now. Which of course makes us feel much happier too! We visit every day so life is still a bit manic, but at least we don't have those awful feelings of guilt knowing she is unhappy.
Financially I am completely behind on my banking etc but as we're too busy to spend much it doesn't really matter and things are ticking along. I will bring everything up to date this weekend.LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
