Just a flying visit while Mr Happy has popped out. He still doesn't know about my diary.

Today and Yesterday's MBNA payments - didn't happen :o. We got invited to a party at short notice, so instead of paying MBNA I bought two bottles of wine to take. I'm not even sorry :D

Mrs Happy, sorry I haven't been around.

Your plan to pay your new friend MBNA is great, that overpayment will disappear before you know it ! I would love to do similar but being on a dmp it may upset the predators, so my loose change is going into the Roses pot instead !

Glad you don't feel guilty about the wine , I wouldn't. :D We all deserve a treat sometimes ! Hope you enjoyed the party x

    Hi Mrs H
I like your idea to aim to pay one card off. I might pinch your idea. I know it is part of the snowball plan but mine never seems to go to plan.
I daren't even look at my snowball at the moment - the DFD is slipping faaaaarr into the future!! I'm doing my best to rein it back in, but last month's blip has knocked me a bit. I'll get back on track as long as there are no more disasters!

Ha, my 'friend' probably WANTS me to fail so they can charge more interest! Not going to happen though (fingers crossed :D)

Lovely to see you again Pinot. I have kept snooping on your diary but I'm not getting chance to post as much as I would like because of the family all being home for summer and noseying! The party was lovely thanks, lots of gorgeous Italian food and good company.

MONDAY AND TUESDAY'S MBNA PAYMENTS - Monday was Bank Holiday so I didn't use my petrol to work and had a complete no-spend day. £2 petrol money paid over. On Tuesday we ran out of hand-wash in the kitchen and instead of buying another I fetched a bar of normal soap down, which I have loads of, so £1 paid over. That's another £3 off!

I'm sure that one day I will post some good news on my diary. Not today though!

Earlier in the year the Happy Horse had a very deep, large abcess in one foot. He needed several weeks boxrest and TLC to get it completely drained and healed. Well guess what? Yep, it's back! And not only that, we now have laminitis in the same foot. Apparently abcesses can encourage laminitis and vice versa, which I didn't know. So for the last week he has been on full boxrest, which means his companion is also on full boxrest as they won't be seperated. I've had to pay for loads of shavings to make and maintain him a nice deep bed, loads of poulticing gear, painkillers from the vet, three farrier visits and a set of front heart-bar shoes. Luckily I have some hay left over from last winter as this year's is still too new to feed, but his companion will only eat haylage so I've had to buy that for her. And I'm spending hours each day caring for them, when they should be stood out in the field just eating grass. I'm not moaning, because stuff like this is just part of owning horses, but to say I could have done without it right now is a massive understatement! Needless to say MBNA are very much on the back burner!

On the positive side, my frugal electricity use over the past few months has paid off because my monthly payments have reduced by £17 per month, and the fixed mortgage term ends in December so I can start looking at options now. Life in general will get cheaper later this month when both kids return to their universities, although at around the same time we will need to buy coal for the fires which will offset the savings.

I haven't been keeping up with my diary and everybody else's as much as I would like, but hopefully I'll get more time soon :)

Sorry to hear about Happy Horse :( hope that all gets sorted sooner rather than later :) I'm worried about our electricity/gas this winter - our house is already really cold :( haven't put the heating on yet, but I don't know how much longer I can go without it, which is scary

Hope you have a good day :)

Hello Mrs Happy, so sorry to hear about horse but hope he's on the mend.

Well done on the electric reduction, its not easy, especially considering how bad the weather's been so there is more time spent in the house than normal summers.

We had a reduction in our water bill yesterday because we've overpaid by £100 but I've told OH to ask for it back instead and keep the payments almost at the same level. Cheeky so and so's, decided to reduce our monthly payments by £15 for 10 months and then £5 the rest of the year, to eat up the £100. If they think they are keeping our money, they can think again.

Hope you manage to get a good rate on mortgage once fixed rate is ended. We were in the same position last year, paying way over the odds because we were on a fixed rate, when everyone else was paying much lower interest than us.
