We all have these blips but at least now we are aware of them. I'm sure in the past your debt would have increased steadily each month not just one month because of emergencies. So don't beat yourself up about it, it's happened and you know that you can sort it out x

That's incredibly demoralising for you, and but for Ralph it wouldn't have been so much. Good on you for putting Ralph first and debt-juggling second. I've heard cuddling wonky cats gives the soul a lift, and it doesn't half the cat some good.
    Better is good enough.

I'm glad you weren't completely successful in hiding from your diary. I'll join you in a very lean month, I need to spend less too, different reasons, same outcome!

Just posting here helps, I find, plenty of folk to keep you company.

Granny - You're right as usual. It IS just a blip and I WILL get over it. It's sometimes hard to remember that when you're in the middle of it, so thanks for putting it in black and white for me :)

Honey Bear -I'm sure wonky-cat-cuddling would be uplifting for both mine and Ralph's souls. However, he is feeling 95% better now and simply does not have time for such things! There are mice outside, just waiting to be hunted down. (Though unless he is targetting very elderly or pre-dead ones, I don't rate his chances just now!).

Piq - Posting on here does help, you're right. I'm going to be around A LOT for the next few weeks. I also have a lot of other diaries to catch up on, including yours, which I have skim-read this morning. Hope you're feeling OK x

TODAY'S MBNA PAYMENT Mr Happy usually works Fridays but is on leave today. That saves around £3 in petrol, so I have taken £3 from the petrol tub and given it to MBNA.

  • Happy Now I concur with everyone else, sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you have to learn to either take the hit or dodge it. This time you had to take the hit but I'm sure next time you'll be able to dodge the ball. :D

Well done on making your payments to MBNA. You'll soon have it under control.

Thanks Fluffies, that particular curve ball definitely hit me right between the eyes :D.

So, yesterday I went on a shopping trip with Little Miss Happy, who is going on holiday with friends soon and needed a few holiday clothes. I paid for both our train fares and bought us both a sandwich, which totalled £15. I had set aside an 'eventualities' pot this month of £40, so the £15 was taken from there. I resisted the urge to treat her, and she paid for all her own clothes and I spent nothing else.

TODAYS MBNA PAYMENT In the shopping centre yesterday Andrex had a stall giving away toilet rolls from their new range. I managed to score six by walking past repeatedly (coat on, coat off, hair up, hair down :D). Each roll also had a 50p voucher, but unless they're on offer that could be worthless. Either way, I have valued my haul at £2 and am paying that to MBNA today.

Well they say it never rains but it pours.......! I have broken a tooth. It's a back one with lots of fillings and one side of it has completely snapped off. It doesn't hurt at all, but looking at it I'm pretty sure it's going to need a crown :(. Apart from hating going to the dentist, I have just checked on-line and an NHS crown costs £209. I have health insurance through work which will contribute £100, but the rest will be down to me. Perfect timing! I will ring tomorrow and make an appointment - maybe he will be able to patch it up. In the meantime I'm going to carry on with my MBNA payments, even if I have to buy a crown on it!

TODAY'S MBNA PAYMENT - I had £26 remaining in my Paypal account from my eBay sales. I have transferred it to my bank account today and have paid £26 to MBNA.

  • Morning HN, I do believe things seem to come in a wave - lets hope your run of spendy stuff is over now. Good luck with the MBNA card - every time I check your diary there's another payment being made :T

I am so impressed with your determination re the MBNA payments. I'm considering doing the same with my Arg0s card, one of only 2 that are still charging me interest.

B^gg3r re tooth, if it's a back one, could you consider doing without it and just having it extracted instead?

Hope it isn't as costly as you think x
