    Hi Happy,

Hope you are feeling perkier :D I do think for long haulers it is a battle to stay motivated (I am the worst), I can often see how I have got myself into this situation. Just this week I have been very cross with myself as I paid to join another slimming club (£10.00 to join) which I have again looked at the books and decided I can't possibly do it - what a waste of a tenner, I might as well have got a note out and flushed it down the toilet :o

Hi IADL believe it or not people pay over the odds for these books on fleabay so if you really think its not for you, get them on there

    Granny x

PS :hello: Mrs Happy, glad you are feeling a bit perkier, it is hard when all we can see is years of debt and frugality ahead of us but we will get there in the end with each other to keep us sane. x

    That's a great idea :money:

  • Hey HappyNow, I hope you're feeling a little happier today. It is very difficult at times but as others have said, we're all here for you. Plus, look how far you've come in a relatively short space of time. I think percentage wise, you're ahead of me and we started this debt busting lark at about the same time.

Hi Happy, so glad I didn't offend you phew. Sorry to hear that you have been a bit down. I guess we all want the debt to be gone RIGHT NOW. But the debt didn't build up in a day (rather like weight too), so we can't expect to disappear that quick either. And how I wish my extra lbs would disappear believe me.
You will crack this, things will get easier.

I don't post much on MSE (too worried I might offend someone) but I do enjoy reading diaries like yours
Hello Dolphin :). There's a phrase which has been quoted a couple of time around here, and it is 'if there are two ways of interpreting something I said, and one of those ways upsets you, I meant the other one'! I always work by that and everyone else I have come across on the diaries seems to as well. PLEASE don't ever be put off posting in case you offend anyone. You would have to actually verbally abuse me or give me an e-punch in the face before I took offence - and even then I would give you the benefit of the doubt the first few times :D.

    Hi Mrs H,
I have been AWOL a lot too as I have 2 sons borrowing my laptop on a regular basis. One is insulating our loft so I can't complain :)
Thanks for dropping by Pooh. Hope the insulation is going well. We have one of the companies who do the work for free coming to assess us for loft insulation on Wednesday, so fingers crossed we qualify and we both have a warmer/cheaper winter.

Mrs Happy.. I spite of 2 lean months you have still managed:
    a christening

    a house deposit

    a watch

    and a fancy meal out.

and you STILL made inroads to your debt. Rejoice Girl!!
Thanks NewLeaf, I know you're right. I do think that next month will be one where the debt increases again though (see my next post!) but we will see.

Then we went out for two nice days this weekend with some overtime money that OH had got and had a lovely treat of a meal out on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. By the time I looked in the fridge on Monday there was two chicken breasts nearly £4.00 worth that had gone out of date and some cooked chicken breast and salad that all had to go in the bin - What a waste, that could easily have been nearly £20.00 extra off the debts

I think our kettles must all be laughing down on us from somewhere, mine went about 4 weeks ago :rotfl: Although my new one has a tiny blue light...... maybe it is a reincarnation of yours...... :o
Hi Itsa, thanks for dropping by :). Yes, it's awful when we realise we've wasted stuff. But at least we realise now when we've made a mistake and don't do it anywhere near as often. I bet if I could add up all the money I've wasted over the years I would be in tears :o. Luckily I can't!

Sorry to hear about your kettle but nice to hear that you bought your new one as a tribute to mine and Pinot's dear departed ones :D

Aww thanks chaps! I'm feeling reasonably cheerful now in the circumstances! It's just the thought that my debt-free date is sooooo far ahead (and slipping!) that sometimes gets a bit wearing, but I will get there in the end as we all will. And on the scale of things, our debts aren't the most important things in our lives are they? Being frugal and debt-busting has changed the way I live a bit, but it isn't spoiling my enjoyment of life - I just do things a bit differently now!

I have had a couple more set-backs in the last few days and I also have a LOT of diaries to catch up on (sorry!) but I have to dash now to get the day started. Back later x

How horrible for you, when you've had a couple of months of raiding pots to stay afloat already. I think the reality is that's how we get ourselves into a bit of a muddle in the first place - whenever times are not as we'd like and expect, the tendency is to throw money at the problem. (And that's in addition to the 'Because I'm / they're worth it' when we treat ourselves and our loved ones to things.)

I'm still learning how to have a fantastic quality of life while spending as frugally as possibly, and the longer I have to do it the better life is, which surprises me. I'm shocked beyond measure at how much money I've wasted over the years but genuinely thrilled with how much I've learned while I've been re-adjusting.

Here's hoping you have a great summer with Master and Miss Happy at home. You deserve it, and we're all rooting for you.
    Better is good enough.

Wow, Honey Bear, that is EXACTLY what I was trying to say. Very succinct and it describes me exactly, though I'm a few years behind you with progress :D. Thanks for the good wishes x
