As Mrs HN appears to have gone AWOL, I'm stepping in and passing on my condolences just in case you are in deep mourning.
    Better is good enough.

It is very strange, isn't it? Mrs Happy is not usually AWOL for this long. I'm missing her cheery (and at times, not so cheery) ramblings. Let's just hope that it's because she has been whisked off to some exotic destination for a surprise summer holiday!

Here I am! Sorry to have been gone so long. Nothing sinister has happened to keep me away, just that both kids are home from uni and they are either hogging the computer or following me around so I can't log into my still-oh-so-secret diary.

Granny - thanks as ever for the good wishes :). The month hasn't really gone to plan financially because we've had an expensive car break-down, but at least it was repairable (at a cost!) and we haven't been forced to replace it. Is your cough better? I will check your diary to find out. Mine is still dragging on so I have made an appointment with the doc for next week.

Chev - Noooooo, of COURSE I wasn't offended by your comment! I can't imagine anyone ever being offended by you! I have paid the £300 house deposit though - she just doesn't have any cash left to pay it herself and it's a really good quality house in a decent area, sharing with three lovely friends, yet still the same rent as the grottier ones. I would hate for her to miss out on it. I've discussed it with her and explained that I WILL pay it, but when she leaves the house after her two years the deposit comes back to me, and if she doesn't get it back (ie if there is any damage to the property) she has to give me the £300 from her own money.

Pinot - Oh no. I am so sorry to hear about your kettle. It takes me back to that awful day in January when the same thing happened to me...... Awful as these losses are for us, we must take comfort that our dear departed kettles are doubtless frolicking happily together in kettle-heaven, where the electricity is free and their lights shine brightly :D. As you suffered your loss three days ago, I am sure you have a replacement by now and I will hurry over to your diary to read all about the new-kid-on-the-block. It has a lot to live up to :D.

Fluffies - I'd noticed you weren't about much over the last few weeks so I'm pleased you're back. Sorry to hear you've had to empty your pots. Mine are still completely empty too. I miss them, they were such a comfort. Ah well, we needed them and they were there, so the system worked for us :).

Tatabubbly - what a lovely name! Thank you for subscribing and for your kind comments :). I hope you will stick around and tell us all about your move.

Honey Bear - thank you for stepping in and attempting to console Pinot. I knew I could rely on you :D. Hope you are keeping well :).

Dolphin1 - thanks for posting :). Although when you say you miss my 'ramblings' I assume that's a typo and you actually mean my 'pearls of wisdom' :D:D. But no, sadly I have not been whisked away anywhere exotic and nor am I likely to be until approximately 2019!!

Oh wow, it's 2.30 am. I'm going to try and get some sleep but I will be back soon. As in VERY soon :D.

Yay, Mrs Happy, you are back! What was I thinking, of course I meant 'pearls of wisdom'. I don't post much on MSE (too worried I might offend someone) but I do enjoy reading diaries like yours as I get such inspiration from them so it's great to hear from you.

    Hi Mrs H,
I have been AWOL a lot too as I have 2 sons borrowing my laptop on a regular basis. One is insulating our loft so I can't complain :)

I hope things are going well for you and you are still able to chip away at your debts.

Mrs Happy.. I spite of 2 lean months you have still managed:
    a christening

    a house deposit

    a watch

    and a fancy meal out.

and you STILL made inroads to your debt. Rejoice Girl!!

  • Hi Happy,

Hope you are feeling perkier :D I do think for long haulers it is a battle to stay motivated (I am the worst), I can often see how I have got myself into this situation. Just this week I have been very cross with myself as I paid to join another slimming club (£10.00 to join) which I have again looked at the books and decided I can't possibly do it - what a waste of a tenner, I might as well have got a note out and flushed it down the toilet :o

Then we went out for two nice days this weekend with some overtime money that OH had got and had a lovely treat of a meal out on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. By the time I looked in the fridge on Monday there was two chicken breasts nearly £4.00 worth that had gone out of date and some cooked chicken breast and salad that all had to go in the bin - What a waste, that could easily have been nearly £20.00 extra off the debts

I think our kettles must all be laughing down on us from somewhere, mine went about 4 weeks ago :rotfl: Although my new one has a tiny blue light...... maybe it is a reincarnation of yours...... :o
    Just keep swimming!
