chevWe weren't suitable for a DMP because we have an asset in the form of a house that we own and rent out. We bought it (as an investment - one of those 'good idea at the time' things
) by re-mortgaging the house we live in, so we actually own the rental one outright. It's probably worth about £75,000 but I don't want to sell it because prices are so low up here at the moment, and the rent on it goes a long way towards paying the mortgage. If we can sit tight it will hopefully go back up in value one day.

We live in a very (and I mean VERY!) rural location and we can only get mobile broadband here, none of this fancy BT line stuff! Seems to be working again now though so fingers crossed xx

Totally understand where you are coming from, I also needed to disappear for a bit and concentrate on other things. It didnt take long to feel the need to tackle everything again head on and get back on the diaries. Maybe it was the time of year or that we all started at a similar time and were a bit drained by it all.
Anyway many of us are back and I am so glad to see you.

Can't stop because I'm really supposed to be working, but I wanted to record that I've just made £89 on Ebay. It's going to be put towards Christmas pressies. My aim this year is to get through the holiday without increasing the debts at all, even if I can't reduce them. If I manage that, it will be the first time in about ten years!
Both myself and Mr Happy have decided not to bother with our works Xmas parties which always cost a fortune and aren't that brilliant anyway.
I've picked up some 'bitsy' pressies for the kids over the last couple of months as I've come across bargains and I'm going to work out a strict Xmas budget which I will stick to. That's my job for this weekend.LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
