The cat ate my cake :(. It was a lovely Marks and Spencers one, bought specially as my treat for tonight and it cost £2.29. I opened it, cut one tiny slice and left the rest on the kitchen worktop. The f**ing cat jumped up and pinched it. Well not all of it, he left me about half, but I really didn't fancy it with all his teethmarks in. He'd obviously trampled in the icing too because there were brown footprints all over the worktop. Disappointing!!

What a ***, unforgivable to steal the cake and chocolate cake as well!

At least he's got teeth to leave teethmarks! ...Still, on a good note, think of the calories he's saved you....*but it was a M&S cake*....*hmmm doesn't outweigh the naughtiness* Ground him!

Oh this did make me laugh into my tea this morning. I could just picture the cat enjoying your cake. At least you got a tiny slice of it before he 'enjoyed' it on your behalf.

Well done on paying off a good wack of your debt too

I am sorry to hear about your cake. You were looking forward to your treat so much.

We used Farr#w and B#ll paint for our whole house when we had money. But last year I used my Farrow and Ball colour swatches which I also bought for some ridiculous price and took them to our local paint store and had them mix me up the same colour for my woodwork. Still pricey but a massive amount cheaper.

Mrs Happy, Ive missed so much.

So sorry to hear about Deborah :(

The Chocolate Cake eating cat did make me laugh though, I bet he loved it. At least he didnt polish off the wine you were planning on drinking with it !

Sounds as though things are still going really well for you and I'm sure the new lounge will look great. Our kitchen was decorated on a tiny budget earlier this year but looks lovely. I have a couple of throws from Dunelm Mill and also Primarche which are great. Actually thats another vie, candles, cushions, throws and Wine !!! Not sure in which order though ! :D

Hi Honey Bear, thanks for posting :). I didn't love the cat very much right at that moment! He is such a food thief (and has the waistline to prove it :D) so I should have been more careful, but I thought he was outside at the time!

Well I should really be painting right now but I have just spent a lovely hour catching up on the diaries. My favourite procrastination!

So - update. Yesterday was payday. All bills paid up to date, including yet another delivery of coal. What is WRONG with this weather??! I have also bought the stuff for our lounge re-vamp out of this month's salary which was quite impressive. That left me with only £50 for my savings pots, so I donated that to 'Cars' as I really want to build that up to cover tax, insurance and repairs plus minimise the amount we need to borrow when we have to replace Mr Happy's (which is still chugging along - just).

The lounge revamp has cost £167 so far. That includes all the paint (B & Q), two sofa throws (Dunelm), two new cushions (Dunelm), and replacement shades for the lights (B & Q). I just need to buy some carpet shampoo, but that will only be a couple of quid, so the grand total will be £170. Had I done this job last year I estimate I would have spent £5000! (It would have been nicer of course, but this freshen-up will be perfectly adequate).

Right, best stop writing about painting and actually start painting!

The diaries are the greatest and most pleasurable waste of time I know! They're all that keep me on track some days, either for the support or the realisation that many people are in a far worse place than me.

I had to get up last night to find an extra blanket, it was so cold! The weather is mad!

Hope the painting's going well. The costs are great and actually it probably wouldn't have looked better with a £5k spend.
