    :wave:Glad you're back Mrs H

Your Money Magic reports are inspiring. Even those bits you deem as failings make me want to take more control of my finances and emulate you.

Don't be such a Regimental Sergeant Major on yourself. If you're too tough, you will set yourself up for perceived failings and it will be mentally harder for you to get back on top of things.

You can have treats, that have no value, a treat doesn't need to have a monetary value against the debt!

I am stealing your fudge idea, brilliant! Thank you.

Just a very quick update to keep up the momentum!

    Todays Money Magics:
Working from home, so nothing spent so far BUT I will be calling in Tesco to buy wine while the 25% discount offer for buying six bottles is on. This sounds extravagant, but I would buy it anyway, and I will be combining it with both the £10 Meal Deal and the 'Just The Difference' discount so I am expecting to get a very cheap alcohol/ready meal fix! If you aren't familiar with what's going on, nip onto the Grabbit board asap and read this:

Apologies in advance to my liver ! Try as I might, I can't give up the alcohol (or the food :D) so I might as well indulge as cheaply as possible. I have done this before and it has worked, so no reason to think it won't this time. Really hope so!

Financial Failings: Really p*ssed off because the letting agent has rung today - our tenants have reported that the hot water won't work in our rental house. We're going over there this evening and I am desperately hoping it's something minor that Mr Happy can sort for free. If he can't, we will have to buy a plumber and they COST. Cross your fingers for me.....

    Morning Mrs H

I think I'm impressed with the wine savings, but I'm not sure I really get it :o Do you buy six sets of meals for a tenner with the wine in the offer and get the extra 5% off as well? If so, I will do it.

Does anyone know what days of the week the offer runs on? I have a feeling it's not available for the weekends, hope I'm wrong.

Thanks for the links, really interesting and useful.

Regarding the alcohol, I think maybe that is why I am so miserable :D, no alcohol except Sundays for me :( Mr Pooh is still having his red wine each night, though he has cut down.

I really hope the hot water can be sorted by Mr Happy, you can do without extra costs.

You can do it that way. There is a £9.99 bottle of wine (Touraine Sauvignon - very nice) included in the meal deal and, as it deducts 25% of the bottle price, that brings the meal deal price down to £7.50, which is great value for a main, side, desert and good bottle of wine. But that still gives a total price of £45 for six meal deals which was too dear for me. So I bought one meal deal and five different bottles (the basic Australian red is quite drinkable and just £3.79 per bottle, so only £2.84 after discount, and there are a few decent bottles on offer at around £4, so £3 after discount!). I paid £21.21 for five average bottles of red, one good bottle of white, a spinach and sweet potato lasagne for two, a side dish of mixed green vegetables and a pack of two WONDERFUL strawberry cheesecakes :):). As long as you buy at least six bottles of any wine (even the miniature ones - they come out at 87p if you buy the £2.49 Jacobs Creek!) the discount works.

The offer runs until 30th, so I might nip back tomorrow and do it all again!

Well done on only having alcohol once a week. I have cut down to one glass per night, but I can't seem to give it up altogether :o. Ah well, they do say that red wine is good for your heart, so mine must be in very good nick. Not so much my liver though!

Well, Mr Happy managed to mend the tap which was causing the hot water failure at our rental house, but unfortunately the pump which stops the cellar flooding has died :(. I have bought a new one today and it cost £62. I had £30 in the house's little tub, so only £32 has come from our emergency fund.

    Hello.

Just popping in to check how you're doing. You seem to be doing very well and enjoy the odd glass of wine, by the looks of it. ;)

Keep up the good work I enjoy reading your posts. :D

Well it has been a busy weekend with FAR too much spending. I've tried to keep a grip on things, but in truth I haven't done so well. Not all bad news though...

Money Magic: The rental house repairs ended up being FREE! I bought a replacement pump for £63, but when Mr Happy went to fit it on Saturday, the old pump turned out to be fine - the problem was a blockage in the outlet pipe. Pump now returned for a full refund.
Further visit to Tesco to stock up on discounted wine. Not really sure if this is a Magic or a Failing, but as I would have bought the stuff at full price over the next four weeks, I am claiming Magic!
Little Miss Happy has been delivered back to uni today. I will miss her madly, but she costs a lot to run and is also very messy.

Financial Failings: I still haven't checked my bank accounts, and for the first time in four months I have no idea of the balance etc. That is unacceptable, and I must prioritise it tomorrow.
Took Little Miss Happy shopping for uni essentials on Saturday and spent approx £80 on her. Some of that £80 wasn't 100% essential, I just wanted to treat her :(:):o. Not even sure which smiley is relevant.
Five hours driving today will have cost a fortune in petrol.
This weekend was free Ebay listing but I didn't get round to it.

Both kids back at uni now so life returns to normal from tomorrow.

I'm not quite down to one glass a week yet :o Wine is a preservative, it's keeping me young! Or maybe it's just the way it blurs my reflection in the mirror...

Clever Mr Happy he has saved you quite a bit of money!

It's good to have you back Mrs H, with or without the torch in the cupboard under the stairs.
