Still not a total convert and unable to do all the things I want to do, but it's progress. Went to Brussels today and had a guided tour of the parliament before spending a great deal more than we'd intended on chocolate. Christmas is sorted. Back late tomorrow and will post considered thoughts on Saturday.
It sounds like a good trip! You clearly can't go to Belgium without buying copious amounts of chocolate to bring back. It wouldn't be right.0 -
My targets - I have not got off to a great start as nothing for yesterday and I've completed a few hours in the garden today and nothing else. I'd say there is always tomorrow but I'm out most of the day so it's not looking promising.
I would say that a few hours spent in the garden is a good reason for doing nothing else, gardening is hard work.0 -
Update for Thursday...
1) To have at least 15 NCDs - Yes so now on 2 NCDs.
2) To meal plan at the end of the week for the following week - All done for this week. It's time to start thinking about next week. I'll have a look what we already have in the freezer at least.
3) Be in bed by 10.00pm and light out by 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday - I wasn't feeling great so bed at 9.15pm and sleep at 10.00pm.
4) At least 40 minutes walking during the day 6 days a week - 55 minutes done (1 x 25 minutes & 3 x 10 minutes).
5) Deep clean the kitchen - Nothing yet.0 -
Honey Welcome home and I'm looking forward to hearing your Considered Thoughts on Good Intentions for Optimistic October. One of which is probably 'put the Belgian chocolates down'. Sounds like a good trip (well the chocolate bit, I wouldn't be all that bothered about the tour).
Elnora Gardening is really hard work for us mature people and I firmly believe it excuses you from all other targets - and it is Target 1 on your list. I'm going to get out there this afternoon and plant my ornamental cabbages plus pick up some leaves, which will all be going on the compost heap.
Dolphin Excellent progress other than the kitchen, but meh to that. I really loved my Aria scales when they worked. They were so motivating. But if you don't use your fitbit now (and why not??) I don't suppose they're worth spending all that money on. Mine were a pressie, chosen by me, for me.LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Sleep. Thursday night Fitbit sleep figures: 5hrs 45 asleep for a Sleep Score of 70 which is 'fair'. Last night was shocking - I only slept 3 hrs 45 minutes and my Fitbit said it couldn't calculate a score based on that!
Weight Still not tried sorting the scales and Mr H has been too busy mending his broken car to be interested. At worst I can use them as normal scales and just monitor my weight, although it will have to be in Kg as they seem to be stuck in that mode. I haven't given up hope of making them work, but it won't be today.
Ten NCD GOT ONE! No crap eaten yesterday but I didn't like it
Nails Didn't go to Boots yesterday due to [STRIKE]it p1ssing down[/STRIKE] the inclement weather. It's right at the other end of town to my office and I'd have been soggy all afternoon. 1) To have at least 15 NCDs - Yes so now on 2 NCDs.getting them early in the month helps as it means you're not under pressure to have a few NCDs in a row. You seem to be in a routine now.
2) To meal plan at the end of the week for the following week - All done for this week. It's time to start thinking about next week. I'll have a look what we already have in the freezer at least. Another target that you are in a routine

Ten NCD GOT ONE! No crap eaten yesterday but I didn't like it :T excellent - the rest will follow now you've made a start and only 9 to go with plenty of month left to achieve them.

Honey Bear - welcome back - you're trip sounds interesting. I'm interested in your targets for this month.
Garden – outside for most of the day picking the last of the sweetcorn and then removing the plants and weeding the bed.
Food – this was aimed at evening meals but I made some soup today with a new recipe - you'll probably be surprised to learn that it contained tomato :rotfl:
Make time for me – I've made no effort whatsoever - must try harder!
Autumn clean - this will probably start tomorrow as rain is forecast.

Seaside Girl: Good luck with going vegan. I admire anyone who is, and I have a couple of friends who are. they're very good cooks, which isn't a co-incidence I'm sure. But it is a big change so I hope you enjoy the process.
Happy: I had to look up Stressless Chairs and you're absolutely right, they're the most comfortable ever. That and a laptop sounds pretty perfect. (My laptop and sitting up in bed are the most comfortable for me, but I need to get out of that habit really, really badly - it's bad at either end of the day because it's so comfortable.)
Elnora: it sounds as though you're going to tackle the annual house clean and put the garden to bed for the winter all in one month. That's a lot of work.
Milann: Weekly targets are sensible if the future looks daunting and you're disciplined - it takes me a month to get going! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Better is good enough.0 -
So, here's my Good Intentions for Optimistic October.
- Deal with the tech problems; the ipods, tablet, podcasts and the printer. I've set this Friday aside completely because I can't bear the frustration any more. Aim to crack one completely a week. I want to be able to use the tablet to multiquote on MSE, use colour, and download BBC podcasts to the newer ipod and unsubscribe the ones I don't like, and get the printer to work again on the main computer. Decide if the older, smaller, prettier ipod can be resussitated, or whether it really is seriously dead.
- 15 minutes Flying a day, to keep on top of the crap as September turned out to be quite successful on the Flying front eventually.
- Plan Serious Flying a week at a time using the current list of outstanding jobs. Schedule some of the biggies across a week at a time, one job a day.
- Read one of the outstanding newspapers a day. I've got rather a big pile of them, so the only way to do that is:
- No computer after 7.15 pm .
- Reach 63.5 kgs by 31 October.
- Finish sorting the muddled bay in the attic.
- Sow onion sets, broad beans and spinach in pots by the end of the month.
Better is good enough.0
