    Hello :)

You are an industrious lot, I am very impressed and somewhat humbled!
Thanks again for all the good wishes and vibes. The Happy Pop (great name Honey!) is still in hospital. Tomorrow he is having a pacemaker fitted, which is clearly nothing to do with pneumonia, but the tests and scans revealed that he has a serious heart problem too. He is now considered well enough to have the operation, so tomorrow is a big day. He is very cheery and optimistic, so I will be too :).

I have decided to take the pragmatic approach and have downgraded my Fab Feb to just two targets - finances and alcohol. If I get to the end of Feb with those two intact I will be well chuffed. So

    • Finances. Payday next Monday and all the bills are in. I have paid £1125 towards credit cards, which is the new amount needed to be clear by April 19. I would have liked to manage another £70 which would have taken me into the £30,000's but it's already somewhat tight.....! YNAB balanced and looking fine. Parking at the hospital is £2.50 for two hours so I am parking what seems like miles away and walking, which is healthy as well as free.
    • Alcohol Still not had any booze this month. I do occasionally fancy a glass or two of cheap red, but I've not succumbed so far. Go me.
I can't believe it's 10th Feb already. KEEP GOING EVERYONE - WE ARE ONE THIRD OF THE WAY IN!!!
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

    Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,332

Indeed go you - pom pom waving from up here. Fingers crossed for Dad's operation, lovely to hear that he is cheerful. I do think a positive frame of mind helps so much.
And well done on refocusing the priorities. I am having drier February after drier January. I hadn't actually realised that I'd done it so its clearly easy enough. Today's achievement was removing 6 bags/boxes of toys to the local playgroup and school, ironing 3 feet of laundry and washing 3 loads of rugby kit.

HoneyI had one of those Microsoft Windows computer guys tell me he was going to call me every day and track me down and stalk me. I wonder what their incentive to make those calls is?

I had one to told me to go f*** myself after I very politely explained that every time anyone phoned speaking with a particular accent I understood before they got to the end of the first sentence that they were a liar and a fraudster! When I pointed out that what I'd said was a statement of fact that made me very sad and I had been scrupulously polite I thought that kind of language was entirely inapppropriate he apologised! But still they keep coming . *sigh*

The reason I take the calls and listen to what they have to say is that one day someone decent will phone and I don't want to do the racist thing and assume everyone with that accent is trying to ruin my day but this has been going on for at least a decade and I haven't been pleasantly surprised yet. Very sad, because my father was posted to India in 1946 for a couple of years an absolutely loved the country.
    Better is good enough.

I had intended to update and comment but I took a couple of temazepam 20 minutes ago because I've got a drilling and filling dental appointment at 12.00 and lovely though this feeling is, I don't think I'm safe with a keyboard. Laters.

PS Safe pacemaker vibes for Happy Pop for today.
    Better is good enough.
  • Lovely to hear from you Happy Now. Sorry to hear that your dad is still very poorly, hope all goes well with the operation today.

Dolphin You would think so wouldn't you? We have a big house and the attics have always been used to store stuff that 'will come in' whether clothes, toys or just stuff. Now we are moving bedrooms around the space needs to be cleared and rather than just shift it elsewhere I have steeled myself to go though it and be realistic about what really will be useful in the future for us, and what might be useful to someone else right now. I have to keep reminding myself that every box and bag that I get rid of or decide to keep for a real purpose means I won't have to do it again.
Two out of four rooms are more or less done, one is organised chaos - I know what needs to be done, just need to do it, and the other is yet to be tackled but is mostly stuff that needs to be kept like decorations, books and toys the kids want to hang onto and 3 mystery boxes.
    Fingers crossed for everyone today

I hope all went well yesterday and Happy Pop is recovering well. Well done on the booze front - are the Peppermint Creams keeping you going?
    • Meal plan from existing stocks as much as possible every week We haven't eaten what was on the meal plan once this week but it's lovely to have it there to fall back on.
    • Clear desk gibble daily Done
    • Stop ****ing swearing. Fine £1 a word for each ****ing occurence Nothing for yesterday! I already owe the tin a quid for this morning, though.
    • Identify and contact five outlets for each working day in February, so that's 21 in all Er, 100 still to go. There's always next week.
    • 15 minutes s a day flying five days a week I have to make the place presentable for people on Sunday so tomorrow, which should be a Flying day of rest will be busy on the Flying front.
    • No sugary stuff one day a week for the first week, two days a week for the second week, three days a week in Week 3 and four days a week in Week 4. Sticking to it now it's Lent but I had to resort to crisps at teatime yesterday, which won't help if the idea was losing weight but more than that, it's just that I haven't been able to get rid of the sugar cravings from giving up wine 18 months ago.
    • No computer after 9.00 pm (except my ipod so that I can choose my night-time listening) and lights out by 11.30 pm Not a tick.
    • 5 fruit and veg a day Tick.
    • Electric toothbrush once a day. Done just before the dentist's appointment. Doing it earlier in the day may be the solution.
    Better is good enough.

Having a flare up with my bad back so update for yesterday...

    1) My bad back put me on a bit of a downer so I sought solace in a chocolate mousse :o.
    2) Despite my bad back I managed just under 10,000 steps :j.
    3) Light off at 11.15pm and a bit of a restless night :(.
    4) No spends on other people :j.

Healing vibes for your back, Dolphin, and jolly well done on doing so well despite it.

    Happy!
    • Meal plan from existing stocks as much as possible every week I'm using the back of the February page to plan tomorrow's lunch (with guests) and it occurred to me that the meal for 12 I'm doing in April can be planned the same way. I love this system!
    • Clear desk gibble daily Done
    • Stop ****ing swearing. Fine £1 a word for each ****ing occurence A couple more need to bunged in, so that's £3 for yesterday. I'm running out of money. :(
    • Identify and contact five outlets for each working day in February, so that's 21 in all Er, 100 still to go. There's always next week.
    • 15 minutes s a day flying five days a week <snip>I'll be busy on the Flying front today.
    • No sugary stuff one day a week for the first week, two days a week for the second week, three days a week in Week 3 and four days a week in Week 4. Our neighbours invited us in for a meal last night and they're wonderfully hospitable. I was quite worried about pudding, but as it turned out - straight to cheese. Yay!
    • No computer after 9.00 pm (except my ipod so that I can choose my night-time listening) and lights out by 11.30 pm No computer but what with dinner and a final dog walk my light didn't go out until gone 1.30, so not a tick.
    • 5 fruit and veg a day Tick.
    • Electric toothbrush once a day. Done before going out to dinner, so I felt positively saintly instead of guilty just using a normal brush at bedtime. Excellent.
    Better is good enough.

Was very p***ed off with my bad back yesterday and was in a bit of a sulk so update for yesterday...

    1) Sought more solace in a small chocolate bar and a buttered teacake :o (but was actually quite restrained because I was tempted to buy a whole cake and eat the b****y lot of it ).
    2) Despite my bad back I managed just under 10,000 steps again :j.
    3) Light off at 11.00pm which is ok for a Friday :j.
    4) No spends on other people :j.

Honey Bear, I know, I owe you £2 for the swear jar!
