It's been a mad few days. Every time I book holiday from work I seem to have to work triply-hard beforehand so I can keep a clear conscience. Anyway, it's done now until Tuesday.

Tomorrow Mr H goes into hospital for his op. I have to drop him off at 7am, then my day will consist of half an hour cleaning (to be raised to six hours if anyone asks), tea-drinking, animal-caring, sofa-snoozing and diary-catching-up. I will be bringing him home early evening all being well. It's a simple operation but the surgeon says there are no guarantees of how successful it will be. The optimist in me is sure it will turn out absolutely fine :).

    Target-wise I have been shocking!
MONEY: I haven't spent anything because I don't have anything, so I suppose in a way that's successful.

    Update for yesterday...

    1) A chocolate muffin :o.
    2) Light out at 11.30pm :o.
    3) Nah, can't think of anything although there are probably loads of things I need to get to grips with.

Not working outside the house any more I don't have this problem but I do remember having to do that, and once even went in on a Sunday after I'd left a job on the Friday to clear a backlog!

Fingers crossed for Mr Happy's surgeon to have a successful day at work and for Mr Happy to be relaxed and comfortable after he comes out of hospital this afternoon. I'm sending a virtual Florence Nightingale uniform to you together with an upside-down watch, which my OH always tells me he can't function without when I'm in need of gentle ministrations.

Well, we do what we can when we can, don't we? As a Flylady, I've come full circle and now feel virtuous if I do a full 15 minutes daily - and often manage to make it sound like a good six hours at the coalface.
    Better is good enough.

At least you now know, Dolphin, that doing your back exercises twice a day is not right for you. We all beat ourselves up thinking we should be doing so much more than we are, when in reality often, all we need to do is a little bit more than we already are. I hope that turns out to be the case for you.
    • No computer after 9.00pm. Tick.
    • Five fruit and veg a day. Probably, can't quite figure it out. I certainly had five, but whether all the portions were large enough, I'm not sure. Better though.
    • 15 minutes flying a day, sticking to the new schedule: Monday: Dusting/dewebbing; Tuesday: Kitchen; Wednesday: Floors; Thursday: Bath/shower room; Friday: Windows/Paintwork. More stuff disposed of from the walk in cupboard. Chazza shop manager is my new best friend.
    • Go flour-free. Tick.
    • New for Suptember 2: Use the electric toothbrush at least once a day. I hate doing it, but it's so much more effective than the old fashioned one, so if I make it official I might stick to it. Tick. Back on track.

How's the Simple moisturisation programme going :D? I agree though, you're wise to give the back a rest until it recovers. And even then, maybe just once a day might be safer?
    Hi all,
Sorry for my last moany self-indulgent post. Hormones definitely to blame
You didn't sound moany, just human. And a human with two adolescent boys too! The hormones will pass and the boys will grow up. Or so I keep telling myself. Master H is 24 now but I really don't see much difference from when he was 16!

Pre-packaged stuff usually says what constitutes a portion on the label, but it's not so easy with unwrapped things. I probably err on the side of caution and double up a lot of the time.

I do want to start the back exercises again but think I need to let my back heal properly first before I try to strengthen it any further.

I love a good decluttering. I could quite easily be a minimalist if it wasn't for OH and his gadgets and random bits and bobs. For example, how many cables and power leads does one person need? We have boxes of them and apparently they all do different jobs .

How are you finding using the electric toothbrush? Don't you find it easier and more effective than a normal toothbrush?

Well, the moisturisation programme is actually going pretty well. I moisturise my face and neck at least 5 times a week as I only miss the odd day now so I am happy with that. Every day was clearly too ambitious but at least I'm doing it regularly now.

Yes, I think I will start at once a day as soon as I feel my back has healed properly then build it up from there.

I hope yesterday went well, Happy and Mr Happy has recovered. No doubt your house is sparkly and organised and you feel rested by the day spent at home rather than slaving over a hot job. Yeah, right.

Dolphin, I hate using the electric toothbrush but I know it improves my oral hygiene. I need using it to be part of my routine, but it's taking some getting used to it.

Cables, electric cables, odd bits of wirey stuff - we have boxes of it. 'We might need that.' Gah. I smuggle a box at a time out of the house every year or two to go to the tip and so far OH hasn't noticed.

    • No computer after 9.00pm. Tick. I switched it off last night on the dot of 9.00 pm to watch something OH needed to see on TV. Shan't be bothering with that again.
    • Five fruit and veg a day. Probably, again. We don't eat a lot of pre-prepared stuff but sometimes I can't be arrised to work out if our own reheated risotto still has three portion of F&V in it. That's what I meant, really. OH found a load of bendy carrots and parsnips in the bottom of the fridge last night, so yes, and good on him for being inventive when creating the feast. Rather scrumptious, in fact.
    • 15 minutes flying a day, sticking to the new schedule: Monday: Dusting/dewebbing; Tuesday: Kitchen; Wednesday: Floors; Thursday: Bath/shower room; Friday: Windows/Paintwork. Back to being a !!!!!!.
    • Go flour-free. A slice of real bread and a gingery chocolate biscuit. Scrummy and no reaction. Good.
    • New for Suptember 2: Use the electric toothbrush at least once a day. I hate doing it, but it's so much more effective than the old fashioned one, so if I make it official I might stick to it. Not a tick. Bad HB.
