Check the calories in that smoothie - I bet that was the culprit, and it was probably banana that did it but on the upside lots of potassium. And whilst I feel that calories are calories up to a point, you had a lot more food for your 541 calories at Boots than you would have with a couple of slices of (yummy) pizza. And more nutritious food too.

Right off to bed, meringues have had enough cooking time so I can switch the oven off and leave them to it.

Are you sure that's all the fruit and veg that you are having? You'd be surprised how much hidden fruit and veg you can consume. Was there none in your soup or anything else you had yesterday?

It was an excellent French fish soup (sorry Happy) from Lidl's French week range so it may have tomatoes in it somewhere but it wasn't a veggie based one, much as I'd like to think I'd smuggled some into me. We love it, and normally pick up four bottles on our Roscoff day trips which we then scoff and pine for for months, so stocking up is about to occur. But, it's vegless, defo.

Ooh, good one. I don't have an electric toothbrush but I've often wondered if they're worth having. I'm quite nervy about the dentist so anything that makes fillings etc less likely is a great idea in my book.

That targety goal thing seems to have touched a nerve! I'm absolutely petrified of the dentist and have shockingly bad teeth because I didn't look after them when I was younger. I've gradually tightened up on oral hygiene and am now making inroads into improving it by picking the professionals' brains. I had a B00ts electric t'brush, but I'm now told they don't rate them so I chucked it (well, it had conked out, I just didn't go back there to replace it) and picked up a £7.49 Ora1 B one from Morribunds and got some spare heads on The Bay of E, and that one is regarded as producing the right results - if used! And I use teepee brushes between the gnashers where appropriate every single day without fail, and finish off with Ora1 B's mouthwash. The difference was instant and cut the hygienist's bill in half after three months of this regime. I just need to make myself do at least two minutes with the electric t'brush once a day. You'd think two minutes was easy, wouldn't you? I keep putting it off, putting it off and putting it off. Anyway, I highly recommend them, since you asked.
    Better is good enough.

Mr H also withdrew £10 for a haircut - I'm pretty sure the haircut didn't cost £10, I think he's stashed the change in his bacon sandwich fund. I'm going to let it go because he's got a bad leg and the sarnies cheer him up :D.

Healing vibes for My Happy's dodgy knee - which, coupled with a bacon sarnie, should do the trick.

    • No computer after 9.00pm. Another book started and abandoned, but no computer. OH switched his light off just after 11.00pm, which is unheard of! I think he's tagging along on my coat tails, tbh.
    • Five fruit and veg a day. Dates, apple, sultanas, beans, brocolli, courgette, sweet potato. Better.
    • 15 minutes flying a day, sticking to the new schedule: Monday: Dusting/dewebbing; Tuesday: Kitchen; Wednesday: Floors; Thursday: Bath/shower room; Friday: Windows/Paintwork. Must get back into this; the bits of the kitchen floor that show got swept and swilled so that's an improvement on ... nothing.
    • Go flour-free. Tick.
    • New for Suptember 2: Use the electric toothbrush at least once a day. I hate doing it, but it's so much more effective than the old fashioned one, so if I make it official I might stick to it. Nope, even though it's on the list. Cross with self.
The samosa thing is too fiddly for me. I fold or roll them up so they're a tall narrow tube, fold that in half and put a single granny type knot in them. Very quick.
    Better is good enough.

This sounds very similar to me. I had terrible teeth when I was younger according to the school dentist who was an absolute monster who never used local anaesthetic and left me terrified of the dentist. However, I am now determined to keep the ones that I have left (I have lost a few back ones along the way) for as long as possible so I religiously use my electric toothbrush, tepe brushes and dental floss every night no matter how tired (or tipsy) I am and it really pays off. Nowadays I rarely need any work done (touch wood).

I made a start on the tax return. Yay! I've found out all the required paperwork and input his name and address. Tomorrow I am off work so I have pledged to get it done. Please give me a kicking if I don't do it!

    Have you done it yet?

    Update for yesterday...

    1) None eaten.
    2) Light off at 10.55pm.
    3) Back exercises only done once and that was only thanks to Mrs HappyNow. The problem is that once my back stops hurting, I forget about doing the exercises.

Apparently that won't be enough. We've seen the consultant today and he needs an operation on his cartilage :(. It'll be keyhole surgery with a recovery time of just two weeks so not THAT bad - and he will get full wages while he's off sick - but not what he wanted to hear. Estimated time-scale is somewhere between 6-14 weeks. It's only a couple of years since he had an op on his shoulder; the man's dropping in bits.......... :D

I've just checked - it was an Innocent Super Smoothie (strawberry, cherry and guarana, whatever that is) and cost 192 calories. Quite a lot but it was delicious, nutritious and supposedly energising, although I didn't notice much evidence of that! I'm going to do it again next Monday, I felt very virtuous :D

I just stuff them haphazardly under the kitchen sink. I must have a tenner's worth there :o. Once, they were so crammed in that they dislodged the dishwasher drainy-thing and flooded the cupboard. I'm going to mend my ways............
