I HAVE DONE THE TAX RETURN!!!LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3320 -
Early update because I won't be able to get on later.
Money - had to buy cat litter, soap and milk today but no other spends. I managed to walk right past that wine aisle on my way to get soap. That's a reflection of just how broke we are right now. All the credit card bills are in so I have updated my signature ready for payday on 15th. 40% of the unsecured debt will be GONE! Interest payments this month will be £155
.
Myfitnesspal I will be comfortably within my 1700 today I think.
Daily diary - I think this is my fifth entry of the day. Sorry!
So, electric toothbrushes. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and I am definitely going to buy one as soon as feasible. When I was a kid my parents just didn't encourage me to look after my teeth - they'd both had all theirs removed as young adults, which seems horrific nowadays but was quite common then. As a result, I have three crowns, a bridge and fillings in most of my other teeth! I look after them well now, but too late of course. I'm proud to say that both my kids are completely filling-free and have no fear of the dentist - unlike me. If I can't manage it before, an electric tooth brush will be on top of my Christmas listLBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. I wish that dental care back in the 70s when I was growing up had been as good as it is today. Nowadays, kids are taught from an early age how to clean their teeth properly and they are often seen by a dentist and a dental hygienist. I can't remember dental hygienists back then. It could be worse though, my parents also lost all of their teeth at an early age and have dentures (bleurgh), I will be doing my best to avoid that.
Adding an electric toothbrush to your Christmas list is a very good idea (if you can wait that long).0 -
My mum's parents had all false teeth by the time they were my age (31) My mum was always super-strict with me and my brother, so luckily I have good dental habits ingrained in me
When I go away overnight, I just take a manual brush and it feels wrong because I'm so accustomed to my electric one. Thankfully, using an electric toothbrush for years has helped me protect my teeth throughout a fizzy drink addiction (I used to drink over 2 litres of diet cola a day), because I haven't been able to afford to go to the dentist since I was a teenager!

Update for yesterday...
1) Finally got round to making the Key Lime Pie that I have been promising OH for months so had a slice of that with cream.
2) Light off at 10.20pm. It's the first time that I have made my target for this one but not sure how realistic this is every day, may need to be tweeked.

Apparently that won't be enough. We've seen the consultant today and he needs an operation on his cartilage
. It'll be keyhole surgery with a recovery time of just two weeks so not THAT bad - and he will get full wages while he's off sick - but not what he wanted to hear. Estimated time-scale is somewhere between 6-14 weeks. It's only a couple of years since he had an op on his shoulder; the man's dropping in bits..........
Really sorry to hear he needs major maintenance in the knee department, Happy. Does that mean you're going to have to mollycoddle him and do all of the blokey stuff around the place while he's recovering?I just stuff them haphazardly under the kitchen sink. I must have a tenner's worth there. Once, they were so crammed in that they dislodged the dishwasher drainy-thing and flooded the cupboard. I'm going to mend my ways............
Mine are only under control because one of the lodgers did the roll tie and fold thing here when I had an entire freerange herd of carrier bags galivanting around the kitchen, stampede like. It's one of the huge advantages of having masses of people through the house; very occasionally they teach me really useful stuff.Come on you two, put your backs into it ('scuse the pun Dolphin :rotfl:). - No computer after 9.00pm. Tick.
- Five fruit and veg a day. Tick.
- 15 minutes flying a day, sticking to the new schedule: Monday: Dusting/dewebbing; Tuesday: Kitchen; Wednesday: Floors; Thursday: Bath/shower room; Friday: Windows/Paintwork. In order to get the loo rolls out of the cupboard, I had to shift the bedside table (and everything crammed on it), the dog basket, the bed, the cat's table for looking out of the window, and eventually that resulted in everything else in the room being shifted too. If the builder had installed the magnetic cupboard catches we asked for 20 years ago none of that would have been necessary. As it was, he put spring ones on the cupboad over the bed and when one of them jams, it turns out the only way to get the cupboard door open is to unscrew the whole affair. So, it was a couple of hours Flying in one room but it's pretty sparkly now.
- Go flour-free. Tick. BUT, the very familiar exhaustion kicked back in after lunch yesterday and hasn't left me since. I'm really disappointed about it because I can't for the life of me work out what caused it and it feels dreadful. I know I had French bread, a tiny bit of half flour half oats crumble and two ginger bix on Sunday but I'm utterly side-swiped and have been for over 24 hours. Grrrr. There is a very slight possibility OH got the toasts muddled up at lunchtime but he doesn't think so, so I've got no idea quite why this has happened.
- New for Suptember 2: Use the electric toothbrush at least once a day. I hate doing it, but it's so much more effective than the old fashioned one, so if I make it official I might stick to it. Nope, again, even though it's on the list. Cross with self.
Better is good enough.0 - No computer after 9.00pm. Tick.
