Ok, my targets for Suptember 2 are...
1) Not to eat any of the following... butter, cake, sweets, biscuits, chocolate, ice cream, cream or desserts of any kind. I'm quite relieved that I have only put a couple of lbs back on while my back has been really bad but want to try and get some more weight off now.
Good luck with this target, Dolphin. I know if I eat sugary things it leads to me wanting to eat even more sugary things, so I think it's sensible cutting them out altogether. And fatty things combined with sugar are just yummy, so I think you're being very practical being so strict. Are you going to allow yourself any kind of treat to look forward to, or are you going cold turkey for the whole of Suptember 2?
2) To switch the light off by 10.30pm. My sore back has caused quite a few sleepless nights lately so I am feeling a bit run down.
Sorry to hear you've been having trouble sleeping; it's very debilitating. Hope you catch up on it soon.
3) To do my back exercises at least twice a day.
Have you done them yet? I, too, can nag when it's required and the sooner you're feeling fighting fit again, the happier we'll be for you.Better is good enough.0 -
DAY 1 for me has been a bit...erm.... mixed
Money - I have been faultless! Washing done during Economy 7 hours & line dried. Didn't run the dishwasher, all lights turned off when not in use etc etc. All the basics, which might only save a few pence but are more about getting into that mind-set. No spends whatsoever, and I have paid the coal bill in time to get the fast payment discount.
Pips are squeaking here, just reading that. The bit that I reacted particuarly strongly too was 'Didn't run the dishwasher' - first world problem or what?!
Myfitnesspal - this is where it fell down. It was going so well until about 4pm, when Little Miss Happy called in on her way home from school (teacher training, not pupil). I was still working, so she cooked for us and it was lovely and I ate loads because it would have been rude not to, and now I feel slightly sick. She brought cream cakes with her. Chocolate ones. I'm only human. So, Suptember2 starts tomorrow on this one! Embarrassing first day
Daily diary - yup
You're right - it would have been rude, and I'm not joking. How lovely for you that your daughter wants to celebrate her successes with you. Lucky, lucky you. (I've always thought some 'luck' is hard earned, btw).Better is good enough.0 -
I still haven't come up with a revamped set of targets for Suptember 2, so I'm carrying on with the old ones until I decide what tweaks are necessary.
- No computer after 9.00pm. I might have allowed myself to carry on a bit after 9.00pm, but when the lappy signalled I only had 10 mins of battery time left, I logged out. Note to self: That sorted it. Loving reading Major Pettigrew's Last Stand but I'm not sure how easy this'll be when I've finished it.
- Five fruit and veg a day. Not sure I've got this one sorted; dates, apple, sultanas, tomatoes, red peppers. Just, then. Vine leaves don't count, do they?
- 15 minutes flying a day, sticking to the new schedule: Monday: Dusting/dewebbing; Tuesday: Kitchen; Wednesday: Floors; Thursday: Bath/shower room; Friday: Windows/Paintwork. The kitchen is a disaster area. I've run out of space to put things so I'm going to have to spend some time in there today and I'll carry on from there. I'm taking the dog to the vet nurse so she can show me how to clean his teeth and then to another place where I'm hoping that they'll let me watch while they give him a bath, so I can learn from them. He is a bu**er for rolling in smelly things - dead rat anyone? (And if it wasn't a rat it was a dead squirrel with a very bald tail.) He's just a tad niffy. They've got three walk in dog baths and all the necessary equipment, towels, drier, shampoo, the lot and customers are allowed to bath their own dogs for £10, £20 if the staff do the work which seems reasonable to me. So he's going to be thoroughly flown today.
- Go flour-free. The oven element was replaced by a new-to-us freelance electrical repair chap and he's the business. What a find. So now I can go back to not worrying about things that breakdown since our faithful chap retired about five years ago and I can have a shot at baking the flour-free potato crust I want to try. Yippee! Just realised, I had a cream tea yesterday so a scone was included (it would have been rude not to) and I'm still as energetic this morning as I was yesterday, which was really busy and active - for me I hasten to add. I don't want to do that every day but once in a while seems to be okay.

Hello all. Gosh you've been busy.
Sorry to have been awol.
I had the job of doom to do, and no, they still haven't upped the fee as apparently we're still on the original contract, but I do have a good system for working through most of it now and whilst it remains a pain, it is less so than when I first began it. Though I still despair at a client who asks us to purchase and monitor items that are not sold in the UK; surely they ought to know that?
And I decided to shift furniture around which meant reinstating the desktop in the office and then couldn't get it to work with the internet. £30 small piece of plastic at PCshop and it works. And the next day a small but apparently vital file has been corrupted and now various programs don't work. Fortunately I do still have insurance so its off to be mended tomorrow and I am borrowing DS1's laptop in small doses.
Apart from that, boys are settling into school. I've done a lot of volunteer work, not enough real work and even less housework. I've at least 3 pages of household stuff that needs to be completed/achieved and currently all I've done is fold the plastic carriers into samosas. (I like the kondo-ing and find the drawers do stay tidy once you get in the habit, but the samosa-ing of carrier bags is the thing I enjoy most). So my October targets are

The plan is not to have anything naughty although I have promised OH that I will make him a Key Lime Pie sometime this month because he really loves it. I'm not overly keen (prefer lemons to limes) but I know I'll find it difficult to resist.

And I'm back, first lot of exercises done!
We haven't had a dishwasher for the last four years  (unless you count me) and I still miss it but there is definitely no room for one where we are currently living. Thankfully, it's just the two of us unless we have guests although it's amazing how much washing up two people can generate especially when I cook from scratch most of the time. Also, I really hate mess in the kitchen so once there are a few dirty pots sitting on the worktop, I just have to wash them up so I am forever doing it.

Our dishwasher hasn't been in action for over 20 months. The pipe froze up after Christmas 2013 and when we got it sorted I never got it reinstalled as it needed a bit of work that I didn't get round to organising. I would like it there as an option but for the most part I manage quite well without it.
I think the dog misses it more than anyone else as it used to make the utility room nice and warm.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

We went, but they wouldn't let me stay with her - I had to leave for an hour and a half.
