    Day 18...

    1) No chocolate, sweets or biscuits.
    2) No cake.
    3) Light off at 11.20 which is fine for a Friday.
    4) Must start on next weeks meal plan.
    5) Failed! :o Spent £20 on a cinema voucher for my eldest niece. She is currently sitting her GCSEs and I am so proud of the time and effort she has put in to them and her determination to do as well as she can so I wanted to get her something for when she finishes her exams.

You're doing so well, Dolphin, that I think one "Huge Congratulations" to cheer her on is entirely understandable. :T
    Better is good enough.

Dolphin - well done, you are top of the class!

True. I feel very tardy realising there are people who actually stick to cutting down on the sugary stuff. I think I lasted oooooohhhh all of a couple of hours doing sugar-free Lent.

Honey - Go Kelpie! What a hero - did he stay in for a while?

About 15 minutes and then stepped out very daintily, totally untraumatised. I'm really, really pleased with him.

As for suitcases, I have saved £50 by going hand-luggage only. I have no idea what we will be able to squeeze in, but I'm reasonably sure there will be no room for either mankini or bikini! The world
    just isn't ready!

Oh go on - I'm sure it would be really. You're just being modest and shy, totally unnecessarily just amongst us friends, I'm sure; give us a quick peek.

Joey - June is still looking for a motivational name I think.
    Suggestions very welcome :)

I haven't been able to get on here for the last couple of days and I've only sneaked on now for a couple of minutes while Mr H is in the shower. Can't stop but I will be back asap x

    Looking forward to updates.

My fourpennyworth, for what it's worth, would be Jubilant June and Judicious July.
    Better is good enough.

    1. I found evidence of how disturbing he found being left alone for about three and half hours three days on the trot .... Entirely my own fault, taking his good nature for granted and expecting him to cope so early on in the adoption.
    2. Done!
    3. OH is now back from sunnier climes so we had fish and chips last night, I had a bacon sandwhich for breakfast, pie for lunch and we're having pizza for supper tonight. Who needs hobnobs or cheese with all that fat? (Weirdly, the cat nicked two chips from OH's plate - I know, I know, but he's the real love of OH's life - and left the bit of fish he was gifted.)
    4. 12.10 am and boy can I feel it today.
    5. Chalet finished in time and plans laid so that next year I don't have to do all of it on my own again. It was the fourth or fifth year in a row and it's just too much for me to be able to do on top of everything else.
    Better is good enough.

Yum! I am so jealous. Bet none of that was gluten free though so no good for me!

So your OH gets home and the naughty eating and late nights start up again, clearly the bad influence in your house has returned ;) :rotfl:.

Does Mr Happy still not know about your diary?
No, he doesn't. I might tell him one day, but probably not. If he saw it he'd know that I'd kept secrets from him, and even though at the time it was for his own good I still think that might upset him. He knows about the debts now, although if I was to ask him how much we owe I bet he couldn't guess to the nearest 10K! Money just doesn't interest him and he has adapted to our frugal lifestyle like a good 'un. For example, yesterday we were in town and he said he needed to get some new tee-shirts for his holiday. I told him that we would be getting his tee-shirts free from Tesco using clubcard double-up points and he just said "Oh right, what colour can I have?"! :D

We once accidentally stumbled onto a nudist beach when we were on holiday! I'm short-sighted and didn't have my glasses on so it took me a while to work out why Mr H and the kids were giggling and pointing! Each to their own and all that, but me? NOT A CHANCE! Yesterday I went into various expensive stores trying on Tankini tops with hidden bras to find just what I wanted. I am now bidding on one on eBay :D

Hmm, yes OK, that sounds reasonable. And I like the way you've linked it to the effort she put in rather than the results :)

No chance he just needed to go, if it was only once?

I've been reading PinotGrigio's diary after she posted on here a few weeks ago and the thing that comes through is the almost relentless inevitability of bad financial news when debt-busting if a diary is read in one hit like a novel. I love Pinot's diary, it was always the first one I read every morning. There was one time (she had two diaries so you might not have come across this) when she hit an all-time low, stood at checkout in the supermarket, in tears because all her cards were declined, and her daughter's birthday was coming up and she couldn't buy food, never mind a present. I was in tears just reading it, but a wonderful thing happened. She got lots of PMs from regular readers wanting to post her their own unwanted 'girly' gifts for her to give her daughter. How nice is that?
I'm so sorry about the harmonisation of expenses hit, Happy; I know, and 'harmonisation' sounds like such a lovely word too!
    2. Love the Judi Dench story. She's great :)

    Update, covering two days:
Money. The £125 M & S voucher from switching bank accounts came on Friday. Mr H's overtime has finished, and the timing was great because there is 20% off all purchases at M & S this weekend via their app, which stretched the £125 even further. So we spent it all plus an additional £21 of real money and neither of us will need clothes/undies now (except Mr H's tee-shirts - see above) for a long time. There wasn't enough left to buy cake though :(. Train tickets free via Tesco Vouchers/RedSpottedHanky.
Healthy eating Not TOO bad, but I did have pizza and garlic bread for tea last night. It was on it's use-by date, I had to do it. Oh and I finished off the Marvellous Creations bar :o
Water This is my 'easy win' so I'm going to keep it as a target forever :D
Sleep Keep waking up because I'm too hot. I think it's the memory foam mattress but there's not much I can do about that.
Sit-ups Deliberate decision not to do these as my back is still a bit sore, but I am meeting a friend for a run in an hour.

Exactly! I'll give it to her after she has finished her exams, well before she gets her results. She has had a difficult few years so it amazes me how she has stayed so focused.
