I hope things are going smoothly for you Happy, and that the reason you're not posting is because you're busy with lovely family things during the long academic summer break.Better is good enough.0

Good morning. Apologies to anyone who had noticed I was missing and wondered what had happened. I got caught up in a very frantic few months. I do think a diary is a habit, and I just got out of the habit.
A very quick update to condense life since last July into three paragraphs!
Little Miss Happy is fully recovered. She is back at uni re-taking her final year and busily making plans for next year. I cannot tell you what a relief that is because there were times when we honestly wondered whether she would ever get better.
Granny Happy is still with us, which is amazing given the prognosis of late 2013! She is frail and not getting any better, but she is able to enjoy the simple pleasures in life - she has a warm, comfortable room in a lovely residential home, good food, lots of visitors, and keeps up with all her favourite TV soaps.
Financially I am plodding along, and the unsecured debt is now 29.5% repaid. Even while I've been absent from my diary I have logged in and updated my signature every single payday.
I'm still loving YNAB, and between that and my bank's mobile phone app I have the finances reasonably under control. Next month my overall debt including mortgage will drop below £100K! By May, I will have paid a full third off my unsecured debt, and I still aim to clear it by early 2019. That's provided we continue with our current lifestyle, which actually is a little too frugal. I do miss holidays, meals out, clothes, making improvements to the house etc, but I would not swap any of those things for the joy of securing our financial future, and life is generally pretty damn good!LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3320 -

Lovely to hear Little Miss Happy is recovered, and that Granny Happy is holding her own happily.
Congratulations on the numbers; I can understand how wearing it is not having the 'finer' things in life mainly because I dispensed with most of them years ago! Your numbers look really heartening.
You have been missed, so it's great to see you posting again.Better is good enough.0 -
