  • Just phoned Tesco who have said that the price given on the internet does NOT include 50% discount.

Ive just spoke to them and they told me the exact opposite! the price online includes ALL discounts. Makes it very expensive!
  • I just had my home insurance renewal from SAGA so i logged onto their webite to get a frsh quote and it came in just under £100 cheaper. I rang to speak to them and was told "you should not have been allowed to do that. If you try to buy it will be rejected". Clearly they do not want existing customers getting the prices new customers would get. Anyway I went through the process and did get a new policy at the lower price.
I am waiting to see if they now honour the new policy
  • Whilst this topic seems dormant Home Insurance is really a minefield. Particularly, as there is a trend to add Home Emgency cover which is very confusing - we get flyers from our Water Companies offering cover for "quick call out" in respect of water supply, drainage &c - but it would seem some of this is covered under pipes and drainage within your house boundary under a good standard home policy. Are you really paying for just "quick call out" - the big boy in this field seems to be Homeserve - but seem expensive - to cover all the "add ons" it looks like £200+ a year. Direct Line seems cheap but "exclude labour in excess of l hour" - there is a wide permutation of price and cover - can anyone enlighten me?

update : Castle cover - over 50s indicated circa £250 for Building and Contents - seems good and only £65 extra for Home Emergency - policy wording available on their web site.

Im on the tescos questions aswell.

Is the discount of 50% on the price shown or is it deducted at the very end.

If its showing the 50% off on the quote it expensive

  • I am paying through the nose, and want to change, but it's all a bit confusing for me.

I can't get my contents value above about £7k! But I have a very valuable autograph, so no one will touch me when I mention it.

It there a statutory "average" amount I should put for contents value?

The numbers certainly don't seem to stack up on the 50% off Tesco insurance deal, I have a saved quote from several months ago and after following the 50% link the price I get is the same!

  • Hello all.

I am trying to find the best value deal for contents insurance on our flat.

The flat is rented, with 2 bedrooms.

The tricky thing is that the flat is shared by 2 couples, who are unrelated.

Can anyone suggest a good place to start looking?

    Thanks

hey been looking at the post office building and contents insurance. Went on the post office website and was quoted £199.94, so looked into the terms it says:

"Your original means of payment will be credited with the cashback amount, no sooner than 60 days after the policy start date and no later than 70 days after the start date. "

So i went on compare the market and got the same policy for £149.94 with the cashback. Just seen you can also get 27.50 with quidco. So in effect i would be saving £77.50. Hoping i have found a good deal as i have been looking at insurance all day!!!
