I tried Martin's suggestion to get a home and contents quote from Tesco. It looked very cheap but I had to double the pre-set amount of contents cover as it would have left me under insured. I was also very wary of the flooding clause. Does this apply only to if you have been flooded or if the Environment agency designates your are at increased risk? I live in such an area so I am not prepared to risk the insurance company wriggling out of it's obligations if I had to make a claim for whatever reason.0

Hi all,
Has anyone come across insurers that will cover, or specialise in aged properties? The one we are about to buy is made up of three properties, oldest is 1750, newest (extension) is 1998. Using the oldest, which i'm sure I'd have to, means that the screen scrapers only come back with one result!
Any ideas on who to turn to for competitive quotes?
Thanks in advance.0 -
I've just got an online contents insurance quote from Barclays for £70 which with £60 cashback becomes £10. I assume this is a good deal?
I've never had any insurance from them before. Are they OK?0 -

Hi
How did you get £60 cashback?
I just went through confused.com for a quote and was given £50 cashback but still saved £85 off my renewal price, thanks to this site.We seek a world in which everyone with HIV/AIDS can live an abundant lifeWant to join us?0 -
Hi guys, can anyone offer some advice?
An relative needs to renew her home content insurance in the next couple of weeks. She only has three months left to pay on her mortgage, which includes a building insurance from the building society/bank.
Once the mortgage is completed, a new building insurance will need to be taking out.
Am I right to presume it would be cheaper to search moneysupermarket etc for a combined contents and building insurance deal? If so can she get cover for both immediately, but will she be penalised by the building society?0 -
Has anyone got any experience of these guys? They're coming in as the cheapest home insurance quote by far, but I'm just a bit wary that cheapest might not be best. Obviously I need to read the policy docs carefully, but when I try and print them off they suddenly change language part way through (not sure what language it is, but it ain't English).
Also strange that the quote includes accidental damage going via confused.com but it costs more if I go via quidco.0 -
I have an issue; I have a mortgage that insists that I am tied to a certain insurance broker and I feel that I can get this insurance much cheaper elsewhere.
Do I have to carry on with this expensive tied insurance or is this actually a constraint that is not enforceable and in fact am I free to shop around?0 -
I recently had my renewal quote from privelege - I got a 20% discount last year, but the premium had gone up 40% to £592! Just checked out Greasypalm and NAtwest are offering £70 cashback and 1/3 off plus you can pay by monthly direct debit at no extra charge. I got a quote for £444, plus I'm getting the $70 cash back through greasypalm.0
