Popped into Morrisons last night and noticed they were reducing some bits on the cooked meat section. I spotted they had some cooked chickens amongst the items, a man next to me picked one up and then put it down again, I turned to my boyfriend and said shall we get one and we can have some in our salad to take to work tomorrow. Well no sooner had I said that than the man promptly scooped up both chickens. Perfectly entitled to I know but I just thought it was amusing that he only appeared to do it when someone else had expressed an interest (my precious.......). If I noticed someone else was interested I personally would have just taken one of them but ah well. Found a nice Warburtons Crusty Loaf for 19p so I still got a bargain:)0

I always go to the reduced when I first get there and check again at the end, never take more than two of one thing or loads for the sake of it. It wasn't until towards the end of 2011 that many other people started checking out the reduced sections round here, now it's a scrum just like everywhere else. So many shelf blockers, it's a good thing I'm small so I just slip my arm between two shelf hoggers, grab what I want and get out of there asap.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0

i love the reduce section and me and my bf have a system now i do the normal shopping and come back with a trolley every 5 mins to collect any reduced stuff from him and he stand quietly and chats to the staff who usually give him the best stuff while the other people there are fighting and threatening each other so it proves it pays to be polite
ive been told my car gonna be smashed up and threatened to have my throat cut before over reduced items but i just walk away
there is one couple always in the locally asda who buy around 20-40 loaves of bread and ive seen them on different days so i guess it a nightly thing and they always pick up bacon and pork chops by the corner like it dirty which makes me think they arent buying it to eat themself0 -
I had a not so nice time last night trying to get the woopsies in my local t's, it's a pretty new store so you wouldn't think so many people would be hanging around for the reductions. I was waiting patiently for the lady to finish marking up some kids meals, i never take until they are put on the shelf as i think it's rude to the lady doing the reductions. In storms some woman, pushes in front of me and starts grabbing the marked ones off the trolley telling the lady doing the reductions 'can i take these' even though she already had started putting them in her basket! Was so annoyed as i'd wanted them for an easy meal, had to employ the same tactics and asked the lady marking down if i could take some too and managed to get the 2 remaining ones.
I don't think it helps that the staff do the reductions at the reduction section on a little trolley marking things up one at a time, some guy when i came back later stood there and took nearly every item out of the ladys hands as she was putting them on the shelf one at a time so nobody else could get a look in.
At 5p a time he was trying to take anything and everything. It seems to be a real brawl at the moment and i used to enjoy going bargain hunting, don't think i am so keen now after my last couple of visits.0 -
Always remember the little old lady at our local morries , she would get to the reduced shelf and if there was a crowd she said in a loudish voice " Excuse me if i catch you as i look but my scabies make it so unpleasant for other people ! "
You should see the space that opened up around her !

There is a certainly amount of luck to this, one day I can do well another day there is nothing. Was pretty rubbish last night in M's so went to S's to have a look there and that was worse. Either hardly anything off the price or empty chiller. I still think Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best nights for me.0

I tend to buy cheap full price items, the people pushing and grunting at each other got on my nerves far too much. I'm far too polite for the whoopsie scrum but my mum can give as good as she gets though.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0

The Tesco's in my hometown, put a barrier around the reduced section when they were reducing stuff by 90% at xmas, they refused to let anyone take anything until they had finished reducing everything and removed the barrier. They said last xmas people were arguing and fighting over reduced things.
I think with reduced stuff it's first come first served, if i see an absolute bargain and its something I buy full price all the time, I will literally grab the lot maybe leave one if I feel generous. But, I do hang around the reduced area, so when the person comes with reducing thing, I am there hovering. But, I accept if I turn up part way through reducing, then I will get the leftovers for being slow. If they reduce 10 steaks to 50p and someone grabs the lot, I wouldn't even dare to say let other people have some as it's first come first served.Starting comping middle of October 2011: Wins so far: 2 x concert tickets, a year's supply of Tetley Tea / Tetley mug, F+F 5 shirt with satchel bag:j0 -
There were Christmas cheeseboards reduced to 45p in my local tesco tonight and it was all very civilised, people were actually calling other people over saying "you want to get one of these". Mind you, there were loads of them.0

Last night we lucked into the Reducing area and watched as a lady literally scooped up as much as she could in her arms, then took it back to her trolley, and discovered she didn't want half of it, at which point she started negotiating with other customers and trying to trade!! That was about 9.15pm, whereas the other week when we went to the reduced area at 8pm it was completely empty.
Still, we got a £14 joint of beef for £1.50, a thing of salmon for 10p and a ham meal for 10p.0
