LOL! just spat a bit of drink out at this! we thought he was beating his wife once cos he was shouting "you stupid b**ch!" just effing do this and effing do that on and on. we turned our tv off and sat there debating whether to call the police when he started shouting about helicopters and "commies" before we realised he was playing another game!

I live on my own and I like it on loud; it's so we can hear everything that's going on. We turn it up louder when there's a woman in the room for a couple of reasons:
1 - hopefully you'll realise the TV is on loud so we can watch it, and you don't try talking to us
2 - if it's on loud you might actually listen, realise what's going on and not ask us to explain it every 6 minutes.

Oh so true - my mum's a nightmare for this. I did resort to surreptitiously turning the volume up a couple of times over Christmas ...

Why is it that men seem to always have the tv on soooooooooooooooooooooooo loud that it could be heard the next street away???????

Do men come with a bit missing in their brains that makes them go deaf when the tv is on so they have to turn it on so loud?????? Sorry for the rant but it really p's me off at how loud OH has the tv sometimes i actually feel like smashing up the tv :rotfl:.

My dad was the same he always had the tv on sooooo loud i HATE it! Us woman don't seem to be like that, i admit my hearing isnt as sharpe as my OH yet i don't have the tv on so loud like he does, arrrrghgggghhhhhhh just really annoys me at times :mad::mad:

I'm a woman. I have developed hearing difficulties. My cross to bear.

My TV is on sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo loud that it can almost drown out the sound of trolls.

    Almost.

I just have to learn not to feed them.

(And I still can't hear my telly properly. Without a 'y' chromosome in sight. Go figure....).

I am a woman, and I see a lot of truth in this. I am pretty sure tht my OH cranks up the volume for these exact reasons.
    :rotfl:
Now we have one of those V+ Boxes so if one of us does the sin of speaking, he pauses it, tuts and sighs and waits for us to finish. Its about not being able to multitask. Now me, I love Eastenders (OH hates it) and happily carry out conversations while it is on.
The opposite of what you know...is also true

I wear headphones. I don't have the TV on loud anyway but it also achieves these two objectives.
Actually, quite often I don't have anything playing through them at all. Quiet bliss. :rotfl:
  • My husband does like the sound up a bit higher than I'd like but he really is a little bit deaf ! When the grandchildren are playing (loudly ) and tv is on , the noise really gets to me . I think it must be an age thing as I feel my eardrums assaulted by the noise , especially when the 4 are here together . Love them + suppose noise is part of the fun !
  • I (male) have our TV volume at 4-5, whereas my ex-partner (female) insists it at about 10-11. But when she goes to bed and I return it to 4-5 she then complains that the TV is too loud!

When we were together I even went to have a hearing test at her suggestion - all OK, yet she constantly says she does not need a test! Explain that! ;-)

  • It's no wonder you split up; you didn't understand her ;)

She's a woman! she has perfect hearing, it's just everything else that's too quiet! you were whispering and you programmed the TV to be quiet when she had the remote
  • I could watch my telly at night in my last place on 1.

The ex had it on 25 all the time and you would have to miss 28 minutes of every programme explaining the first five minutes.

If I stayed up to watch TV after he went to bed, he would be down every 10 minutes complaining the TV was too loud and didn't I think it was time for bed now.

He lost that tactic when I pointed out the TV was off.

And if I actually wanted to watch something when he was in the room, he would always start talking at me about nothing - bin bags being a bit thin, for example, and only ever shut the **** up once the end credits started rolling.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
