Before my father died, his hearing got progressively worst. He got a special hearing aid that connected with the TV so the external volume was mute but he heard everything. He particularly enjoyed watching snooker and the hearing aid allowed him to hear the commentators and the production team discussing the likely best camera to use for the next shot...

its on really loud here too but what really narks me is when he puts his stuff on tv then promptly falls asleep

Oh, I'm so with you on this. I then spend the majority of the programme saying OH's name or 'sshhhhh' :shhh:. The snoring stops then starts again about a minute later. Occasionally, he'll wake up and say 'what?'. I (or DS or DD) will say 'you were snoring' to which he'll reply, really grouchily, 'no, I wasn't'.

It happens so regularly it's turning into a household tradition. He's asleep now even though he turned the TV over earlier to the football (while I was out of the room ).

Thing is, what's so great about the sofa? If he's tired why doesn't he just go to bed and allow me to watch the TV in peace? Oh no. It's like a form of torture.

Rant over. God, that feels better. ;)
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?
