I just checked my account again and they have also set up a magazine subscription dd in my account, Dennis publishing and they are not open at the moment so I cant cancel it at their end but the bank has cancelled it anyway. It only showed up today so not sure when it was applied for
    Thanx

I wonder what we have in common because the subscription this person took out was taken out with Dennis Publishing as well! I got the subscription we were being charged for cancelled earlier as Dennis Publishing were open to 5pm or 5:30pm.

Hubby telephoned the bank today and they advised him to withdraw the money from the account, close it and open another account because they have no way of stopping dd's being set up. The bank employee asked if hubby could come in today to get this sorted so he said he could. Hubby decided that he would get my name added to the account so now it is a joint account!

We have the new account number and the cards should be with us in the next 5 working days! The person doing this will no longer be able to because I am keeping a tight eye on the account and it will be closed shortly. :j :money: :p

Well I think the thing we have in common is cashback sites, its the most likely thing, its possibly even the same person or group of people doing it to both of us and others as I doubt we are the only ones this is happening to.

I think the first thing the banks could help with is alerting/informing an account holder the moment a dd is set up in their account, by email is the easiest, text or phone, that would be a start
    Thanx

The lady in the bank asked if there was anything we wanted set up on the account and some of the options were to be notified of when the account only had an amount specified by us left in it or when the account had went over a certain amount specified by us. I asked any chance of an option of no more dds being set up or being notified when they were she laughed and said that would be a good idea but that option is not available yet.

We wondered that too! We were told that as long as there was money in the account so the dds could go out then there would be nothing on our credit files. However if there were insufficient funds then it would show up on our credit file!

The dds don't show up on our account until after midnight and the dds are going out the same day but by then we cannot stop them. Instead we have to cancel the dd online and telephone the bank to get it refunded.
