I'd be seriously worried at this point, somehow the security of this account has been compromised and you need to take appropriate action and fast.

Is there any reason why they have changed it? Did you want them to?

If there isn't a good reason and you didn't want them to change it ask them to change it back to a savings account, or to open a new savings account and close the current account down.

If they refuse there is nothing stopping you from closing the account and moving the money elsewhere.

They sent out a letter stating why - they were doing it with all that type of account.

What are the scammers actually gaining from this? Presumably the actual pet insurance isn't a lot of use as in most instances it will get cancelled in a few days or a month or so at worst. Do they have a way of converting it to cash? Or will it be fraudulent claims on such of the insurance that lasts long enough?

I don't know! The Argos rep said that it was to get cashback.

How many cashback sites are you a member of that will have had your address details at any time such as putting in missing cashback claims or like you had them in your topcashback account until earlier today? Just trying to narrow it down

I didnt even look at any pet insurance, my only connection with argos and homebase is buying a freezer through homebase using topcashback recently (and having to put a cashback claim in because it did not track) and just surfing through argos via topcashback lately and reserving an item. I would like to think that topcashback is one of the more trustworthy sites but if you only are a member of that site its a bit worrying
    Thanx

The only cashback site I use is Topcashback. I looked at a site, after clicking a link on here, which gave a list of insurance policies but I did not click on any of them. I recently submitted a cashback claim to Topcashback. It is worrying, very worrying!

The £1 has just come out of hubby's savings account after midnight. The dd did not show up until after midnight and we have just cancelled the dd online but apparently we could not stop the transaction.

Hubby needs to phone the bank again!

Hubby & I have racked our brains and we did give his bank details to Topcashback a while ago but we since changed them to a savings account in ING.

I never thought of having cashback commission put directly into a savings account, I didnt think you could do it but if its safer to prevent people from setting up dd's its probably better unless theres anything else thy can do with those details too
    Thanx

Telephoned the magazine subscription company and they said that it was set up by a third party. The person I spoke to said the company who the subscription was taken out with usually gets their orderes by telephone and therefore they may have a recording of it. He said the other company are closed until the new year and that he will contact them then and contact me on Tuesday 3rd or Wednesday 4th.

Hubby telephoned the bank and they have cancelled the dd although hubby already cancelled it online. They also said that hubby needs to speak to his own branch rather than the fraud dept and see if they can stop all dd's coming from this account.

You would think I had nothing better to do than keep cancelling all these things this person has set up.
