Got my Flights were booked yesterday! I started with a £550 budget, cut down to £400 and they cost me £330 after I realised I could save more paying by debit card!! I thought the card charge was on all card transactions!

So with the leftover money I bought travel insurance for £15 (through one of martins links... when I went direct they quoted me 3 times more for half the cover!!!)

I plan on giving one of DS friends £15 if he feeds my animals while we are away. And the leftover £40 will be 'travel money' just because we have it :D
Regular Holiday Savings £50 a month (plus Feb Council Tax):
    Flights: £330/£330
    Insurance: £15/£15
    Pets: £0/£15
    Travel Money: £0/£40
    Spending: £130/£250

To be paid for using our normal Monthly Budget in July (so no need to find money):
    Petrol: £0/£140
    Food: £0/£150
    Baby Items: £0/£20

Money we don't have and needs to be found Old Style:
    DD's Passport: £34.71/£50

    TOTAL: £509.71/£1010

    Over half way there :T
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

    JulieGeorgiana,

I do this as well, if we go away for a week, I use that weeks petrol and food money. Also save the council tax money as well.

Last Day of the month - and I have managed to save £260 this month so my grand total is £1425. Still not got motivated enough to list anything on ebay, but on a plus side, my GP discovered that my Vitamin B12 level was really low and this could explain the diagnosis of depression so having injections every other day, had 3 at the moment but don't feel that much better yet - maybe by the end of February I will.
Hope every one else is still on track with their savings.

    Morning everyone,

Will update totals later on and add my own figure too - haven't worked out my sums yet :D.

swimmum let's hope they've found something to make you feel better xx Keep positive xx

    Everyone's doing so well !

I need to get some more things listed on Ebay this week, managed to sell DDs old Guide Uniform and I had a dress that I wore once and didn't like :o - so that went on there too. £15-odd after fees so not too bad.

I was going to get out into the garden this week but it's a bit too chilly so maybe I'll use the time to get my bum into gear and get things listed instead.

Right, off for brekkie. Have to walk into town today and get car tax (would have been another £100 for my total had that not been due ) !

Catch up a bit later xx

    Hi everyone

    I've updated the totals. :D

Managed to save just over £400 this month so really pleased with that :j ! I think most of that figure has come from the Grocery Challenge and staying away from the shops ! Feb is a shorter month so hopefully I'll be able to do the same amount next month.

Have had a rough couple of days here, car breaking down, couple of trips to A&E . Hopefully that'll be it now !

    How's everyone else getting on?

well done on those savings and getting the flights booked JulieG.

We went slightly over on the groceries this month so nothing extra to save there.

Good news tho, DH has tax rebate after sending in tax return - £900ish so total stands at £1032.65. Need to crack on with more ebaying if I'm to keep the momentum up.

We have also got ourselves a better mortgage deal this month so have been able to up the amount we save into emergency fund, and also adding an extra £60 a month of that to this holiday fund.

This months task will be getting DH to call BT to get a better BB deal. We have little choice but to stick with BT for where we live as DH needs a reliable service for working from home days. We call them everytime our contract runs out, threaten to leave, and get a better deal!

Also need to start planning some half-term activities. DH has a couple of days booked off. We will take the kids swimming at the gym we are members of -free. Then do a pizza hut or something with a voucher for a cheap lunch. Need to think up and plan some more free/cheap things to do. Maybe invite friends over for playdates etc. I find if we don't plan ahead, kids get bored so we spend loads more on rubbish activities that non of us enjoy as much!
  • hi everyone, so glad i found this!

Have been listing in eBay for the past week or two, and plan on using all the ££ i earn towards my trip to butlins in October half term!

The total cost is £377, but I've already paid £75, so need to make £302 which i think is very do able and a good excuse for a declutter.

So far I have made £29.61 which is currently sat in paypal :j

Got a few more things finishing sunday so they'll add on to it, and I'll prob transfer it @ £50 and pay it off in the travel agent :)
Also any ££ I make on quidco will b used for this purpose.

I have another holiday booked to lapland in dec so if this one gets paid quickly enough I'll move on.....

So pretty please can I join u :D
Still here..... but working on that!
