I think its just the end of year blues, where I look at the past year, feel like I haven't achieved much and then im overcome with fear when I think of the next year and all I want to achieve and the likelihood of actually achieving any of it. This month loads of my old school and university friends have got engaged or had children and Im starting to feel a little left behind as I dont even have any prospects at the moment.

FMW - I've been feeling the same as you this week. Almost everyone I went to school with is married/engagd/preganant/has children. This time of year always makes me sad that I'm on my own, plus I'm freaking out cos I turn 30 in 3 months time! But I try not to let it get me down too much. 90% of the time I love being single. If I'd been in a relationship I would never have done Camp America, then never have gone to NZ in 2009, and then to HK/Oz/NZ/Singapore this year, and 4 trips to Canada in last 4 years!!
:rotfl:
.
When I feel sad like this I remind myself of a story I read on MSE about a man whose mother was widowed young and never remarried, she was a single mum for years. The mum moved in with the son and wife into a granny annex. One day a friend of the son asked 'how she was getting on?', the son replied 'she is no longer with us', friend went to give condolenses, when the son added 'she got married age 98 to a man she met in the day centre and moved in with him'!! awwww
so there is always hope.....

I had a good mooch around at the sales this afternoon, but the carparking charges cost me almost as much as I saved. My new years resolution will be to take the bus!

beth sorry to hear your news ((hugs))
Uollypool give your children a ((((huge hug)))) from me - what an @hole to promise children one thing and not keep his word
We don't have many shops in our town, but I managed to get next years crackers, cards, gift tags and paper for half price in Wilkinsons and a few half price gifts in Asda and a lot of gifts that will do birthdays and some Christmas pressies for next year from Boots and I have £3 in my sistercas fund :j
I am another one who can't wait to get the tree and decs put away for another year, but I will do that on Monday.
I think that I will get a stock of spirits in before the tories put the prices up , just because doctors say they should..... probably the same ones who put the kybosh on smoking ::( I don't recall voting for any doctors in the election and I definitely didn't vote for the twonks that are in power now. Are we living longer or does it just feel like it because we have few pleasures in life left  :mad:Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hello all,
Had a great Christmas in Cork, weather was not very kind so didn't do much walking, but was lovely to be with everybody...had lunch to-day with DS3 and family, so still haven't cooked since last Friday....knitted 3 hats!
Another 'sistercas' failure here....have about €40 in a jar in the larder cupboard, will try to add to it as the year progresses. Am determined to keep a tighter rein on my spending in 2012, seem to have been all over the place this year, so have done a new budget and will stick to it....think that I need some tins or jars to actually put the money into...doesn't seem to work just leaving it in bank as I don't keep a strict enough record....never know when I have come in under budget on things.
Did one wash to-day and hung it on airer, it will dry sometime....lots more to do, but not working myself up about things, Sunday is start of new year, so will start new regime then....not really decided what I am going to do in 2012, learnt to swim 2011, will continue to practice, but need something else to focus one, scared of brain drying up!
Hugs to all in need or want of one, sleep well, stay safe
