OS Daily Wednesday 28th December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday28th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
No I haven't run off with the milkman, I've had a falling out with BT, I had no phone line or internet access since the day before Christmas Eve, I got it back on Christmas Eve, but only for 40 minutes before it went again. I've upgraded to BT Infinity, well that's the theory, but actually all they've done is cancel my existing broadband, there cannot be a muppet left in BT that I haven't spoken to over the last few days & I swear I will swing for the next one who tells me that they have tested the line & it shows no fault, or that they have emailed an update about the fault. The light is flashing on the phone again, so I am about to lose the phone line again.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone,
Hester staff incompetence never ceases to amaze me  hope it gets sorted ASAP.
Raining and dark here this morning. H is back to work today so it's just me and the kids.
Need to go through my meal plans today, not really cooking some of meals so might rewrite and leave off stuff I am not cooking. Fighting the urge to put the tree down
might have a gentle declutter of Christmas cards, just want the house back, even DS asked to put the tree down yesterday :rotfl:
Not sure what's for tea.
Hugs and spoons all round. Hope it's an easy day for those of you who have to return to work xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Up at 5.15, just can't sleep.
I'm going to make soup out of Lo veg and freeze along with the beef curry I made y/day. Turkey portioned and frozen to use for sarnies as I don't like to reheat turkey.
Bathrooms to clean today before I brave the sales, couldn't muster up the energy y/day to go shopping. DH's B&Q gift vouchers are burning a hole in his pocket so he'll be off there to buy more stuff that will end up stuffed at the back of the garage.... just in case it comes in handy, rollseyes!!

I had a lovely day/night out yesterday. I went out with an ex-colleague and her friend (who I've meet once before), and my schoolfriend/colleague. Despite the fact that we all didn't really know each other we talked non stop for 10 hours! We had lunch in a lovely little Italian, drinks in one pub, then moved onto another area and went to pub there, then later on me and my friend went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner :rotfl:. She bought me dinner as my xmas present, and I wasn't drinking so I only spent £20 all day
.
Today I really should do some uni work
but am not feeling it! I am due to go out this afternoon for coffee with my Camp America friend cos she couldn't make it yesterday. I should also need to start packing up the flat. Flatmate has done loads already, but she lives in Cardiff Mon-Fri so only has this week, and one weekend to pack, whereas I have the next 3 weeks.
OS wise - not much...lunch will be salady bits and cheese on crackers, dinner will come out of freezer. need to put away laundry.
Have a fab day all

Morning everyone. Again not much OS here today, mostly university work. I find that when I'm at my parents' I do so much more washing up, as rather than me and OH splitting it I just immediately wash up anything I see. I'm a... compulsive washer uper?
I visited a family friend boxing day and when I mentioned Prince Philip and his stent she said "oh please, he should try having 3!" and it turned out she'd had a heart attack in town and had three stents fitted, the only reason she didn't die was because there were so many police around due to it being during the riots and she had immediate help (from the motorbike cop off the telly none the less!). She lives alone and told noone but her brother abroad, she's bought a mobile since and now has all my family's mobile numbers in it. She really hated being stuck in hospital cut off from everyone so hopefully having some visitors after her next op will make it a bit more bearable. It's so unexpected as she looks incredibly young and is very fit for her age (early 80s) but her rich diet did it. My dad sees her every few weeks but even he didn't notice anything had happened as she was typically lively and coiffed. I know many people on here already talk about looking out for elderly friends and neighbours but remember to make sure they have your number on their mobile.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
had done long post - then lost it - grrrr. however have been to see doctor and he agreed with me that I could up the AntiDs. Sorry if its tmi, but I know that I need these just to cope and to keep the family together, so I'm not ashamed, its just a fact. He asked me to keep a thoughts / feelings diary - does he really want to know?!
Anyway, no one is going to clear this house unless i do, so I'll start on the washing first as it appears to be a lovely blowy day. Bathrooms after that as they're easiest, then hall. Planning on starting an hours exercise a day as soon as OH has gone back to work. Will use the wii as we have games for it, and at the weekends will walk the dogs for an hour each day. Ho hum. Right washing machine calling me!!
Hugs to those in need xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Good morning,
My main plan today is to hoover downstairs (yet again) and tidy the good sitting room, which is full of plastic junk belonging to the house elf just now. We've had a good but quiet Christmas and will not be going anywhere near shops, sales etc. This house has enough stuff in it as it is and the elf doesn't do crowds anyway. He informed me this morning that he's a brilliant singer but he doesn't want to be famous. Hmmmm.
HH BT drive me mad too. I had no phone/internet for a week November 2010. I wanted to scream by the end of it all.
Take care all of you0
