  • Good morning...been awol for awhile so i hope everyone had a great xmas.
My kitchen looks like chaos today, my husbands old boss is shutting down his cookery school today so it looks like their whole kitchen has teleported into mine....i'm not complaining as my freezer is now full of pastry, thai curry pastes, brioche dough and various jus, ice creams etc. I have every vinegar/oil known to man and probably enough onions, garlic, ginger and chilli to last probably til next xmas.
So this morning i have made the kids a batch of mincemeat pastries and am currently sweating down a kilo of onions to make a french onion soup for dinner tonight.
Hubby has gone over to help again today, dread to think what he'll come home with :P

My Ex put through some cards last night with £25 in for each of the kids , They appreciate everything they get normally but ds2 got really het up about it as he staid there for a few days before Christmas and apparently his dad has said that he was giving them £250 each. Now I would never have believed that in a million years but why tell your kid something and do something else. Keeping quiet , nowt to do with me. Am slightly shocked about kids reactions , thought they would be used to being let down by him by now.;);)

I know what you mean, but it's a sad day when they stop having hope because it's been crushed! My Ex had his dad call on Christmas Day to say they can't have DS on Boxing Day... and DS just shrugged his shoulders and said it was 'ok'! My heart just broke there and then!

I hope they feel better about it all soon x

    Morning All,
    Very quiet here today :(
DP has decluttered DD2 & the gks into the car & they are on their way back up north. Eldest dgs cried which set me & his mum off, I wish they lived closer.
DD1 has gone back to work today & DS has reclaimed his bedroom after sleeping in the sofa for nearly a week :A
Bright & breezy now after a damp start, so have stripped beds, one lot on line, one in machine & one to go, will also strip turkey & get carcass in slowcooker with the mountain of veg peelings I have aquired this week.
Jacket pots, cold meat & beans/salad for tea tonight should create some space in fridge, although DD1 has refilled freezer with bargains from Mr T & the co-op over the last couple of days :T
Hmm sounds like wm has finished so will get DS to hang washing & I will get on with my bits.
HH & CG hope you get some joy with BT & EDF today x
    Hugs,spoons & hi5's as usual x

  • Hi all
HH hope that BT get you sorted out soon. I think I am one of the lucky with them (touch wood), but Virgin isn't available where I live just yet, and I'm completely unimpressed with Sky TV so wouldn't even consider their phone/internet package.
CG I'm just in the process of leaving EDF after 4 years with them. Apart from finding a better deal they kept refusing to drop my dd so I'm over £300 in credit with them at the moment. Which will be nice (although I will put a buffer into my new suppliers as it's winter etc).

Car is back in the garage again today - radio hasn't worked properly since the other repairs were done, so I'm just waiting to hear back from them about that. Fingers crossed it's done and dusted by the end of today. ETA - just had the garage on the phone, they can't fix it properly unfortunately - which really pittles me off. Although they are going to drop the car back for me so I don't have to walk all the way back out and collect it.

Am also taking advantage of the windy day to get my washing done and dried. All bedding out on line and sofa covers currently in and washing. How very OS of me (which I'm not normally).
I've also done tidying, hoovering and mopping so that's progress for me.

Cooking of leftovers is done and frozen so I shouldn't have a day next week where I'm struggling to find something to take to work for lunch. Just need to get the OH to learn to embrace eating leftovers (harder than it sounds).

Just wondering hpw everyone else fared with thier "sistercas" Christmas savings?? I was fine until the day in April I needed some change...and sadly, that was it. However I am going to start again now!= as the idea was brilliant!
    .

mine worked really well , i had over £330 pounds to spend on food and booze for xmas which was more than enough and i am definitely going to do it again this coming year :D

just received my parcel from boots' half price sale , i now have 13 birthday presents sorted for 2012- some lovely stuff too :j im so pleased as i missed the sale last year .

been to the local recycling place and got rid of all the bottles, plastic and wrapping paper that DH forgot to take yesterday lol

also nipped into @sd@ for cat food and fresh guinea pig food - it was incredibly quiet , i drove past the local shopping centre and that was deserted too , everybody must have spent up

    Hello Ladies,

Been a really lovely day here today, a cold and windy day but the sun is shining and I have a load of washing out on the line drying - hopefully!

Not done a huge amount today. Had a good look around on the internet. Still trying to establish if Lidl are doing that promotion like last year - think it was a New Years Eve promo - where they had their W5 dishwasher tablets for half price. Still not seen that yet on their online deals. I bought a whole 12 months stock of those tablets and stashed them away in the garage. So keeping eagle eye out or hoping one of you might just give me a nod and a wink on it if it does appear!

I have the windows open in the house letting some welcome fresh air in, just going off to make myself a cup of tea and put my paws up for half an hour! Have a great day all x
