Or going out with something that cuts, cutting off the seed heads and depositing them in your wheelie bin. At which point it will try to seed the inside of your wheelie bin while you will have difficulty in caring less...scubaangel wrote: »- so far I haven't done so as the watering can is what I've been using to fill the fish tank, and even at my drunkest/tiredest I know fish won't cope well with weed killer!
I know I'm going to regret asking this - but why do you use a watering can?scubaangel wrote: »Strangely the marked circle on the "mug" mat doesnt fit any of the mugs I own but my stella pint glass which I use for wine fits perfectly.
Well there you go - knowledge gained already.scubaangel wrote: »Enjoy? I'm going to hate ever second, but at least I know that now, as it means I'll enjoy the feeling of getting it over and done with in the same way I do every other thing I do study wise.

Wheelie bin? Whats one of those....
Because the ex used my bucket to wash his car and fish don't like soap either.
I do it because I don't enjoy the studying process, but like gaining knowledge and the satisfaction of knowing I've beated my lazy nature in to submission! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

It's what you use to throw the rubbish out with. Like a General Election, but more reliable...scubaangel wrote: »Because the ex used my bucket to wash his car and fish don't like soap either.
Why don't you use the kettle? I'm not suggesting you boil it first though.scubaangel wrote: »I do it because I don't enjoy the studying process, but like gaining knowledge and the satisfaction of knowing I've beated my lazy nature in to submission!

Nope still not understanding, we have two rolls of bin bags - one black for general rubbish and one purple for recyclables, garden waste is not allowed in either - we have to pay for a green bag for that stuff.....food waste goes in the caddy we have to buy our own bags for.
Kettle's too small, the watering can takes thre trips to totally fill the nano tank so a water change takes one can....the kettle would take ages to achieve the same thing.
Yes, this is very true, but equally I'm going to struggle to get the jobs I'm interested in without those shiney letters after my name (which irritates me incredibly as I have experience in said jobs but no degree so my cv rarely makes it past the first sift). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Today has been another of those where I have achieved basically nothing!
Went to a supermarket to get some more freezer food - amazing how many packets of ice lollies threw themselves at my basket, along with the Spongebob PinkPants t-shirt!
I also did some shopping at B&Q but both items I bought have to be returned - will try to get that done before work tomorrow. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Dear God.
So the council charges you money to take away garden material which they compost and sell? Yeah. Right.
If the councils tried to charge for garden waste round here, they'd find it being put in the "bonfire" wheelie bin.scubaangel wrote: »Kettle's too small, the watering can takes thre trips to totally fill the nano tank so a water change takes one can....the kettle would take ages to achieve the same thing.
I must have a big-ass kettle then. I use my kettle to fill up the watering can (I miss the outside tap) because the can doesn't fit in the sink very well. The hole ends up at the edge, but the taps are near the middle.scubaangel wrote: »Yes, this is very true, but equally I'm going to struggle to get the jobs I'm interested in without those shiney letters after my name (which irritates me incredibly as I have experience in said jobs but no degree so my cv rarely makes it past the first sift).

Long term I want to get back in to science, ideally marine science/conservation of some kind but its such a competitive field I'm realistic enough to know its highly unlikely without specific post grad study or getting very very lucky in finding a job once I finish the OU degree.
Given that I accept and acknowledge that as being unlikely I'm more interested in 'active' work, so I'd much rather be out working in the countryside than sitting in an office. But whilst I'm trying to study most jobs of that ilk in this area are low paid and seasonal, back home it's not much better, so assuming I can find myself a 'nice dull' 9-5 monday to friday job here or there I can look at volunteering to start getting experience in that sort of area along side the studying.
I looked in to getting involved with the local conservation group this summer but all their activities were on Saturdays when I'm working. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

If you want a reasonably paid job outside involving "nature" - have you thought about becoming a Tree Surgeon?
Do you have a head for heights?scubaangel wrote: »But whilst I'm trying to study most jobs of that ilk in this area are low paid and seasonal, back home it's not much better, so assuming I can find myself a 'nice dull' 9-5 monday to friday job here or there I can look at volunteering to start getting experience in that sort of area along side the studying.

Terrified of heights....even feel ill sometimes at the start of a dive looking down through clear water!
And there you have hit upon my main problem, I don't find them interesting at all - I have done admin work before and while sitting at a desk all day was hellish the fact that I had time in the evenings to see friends and weekends to go diving was fantastic.
They did/do a range of things from simple litter picking days to ecosystem studies, and species counts. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Then that is definately not the career for you.scubaangel wrote: »And there you have hit upon my main problem, I don't find them interesting at all - I have done admin work before and while sitting at a desk all day was hellish the fact that I had time in the evenings to see friends and weekends to go diving was fantastic.
Is it just the admin work? Or is it being stuck inside?scubaangel wrote: »They did/do a range of things from simple litter picking days to ecosystem studies, and species counts.
