Evening Nora, *passes some Counters and offers a glass of pink vino*It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Wouldn't it just - although to be fair lying on your back doesnt take all that much energy, the plus side being I could read my OU books on the Kindle at the same time :cool:It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

This is a good talent and will be well appreciated.scubaangel wrote: »if it doesnt fit or I don't like it once I have it home I return it next time I go near the appropriate shop! A bag of lead shot? Like the old fashioned cannon rounds? I'm well impressed now...scubaangel wrote: »Its a now resolution but I'm wary of applying for jobs down here while I'm still unsure about staying put or not,
Apply. You can always say "no". Unlike rentals, there's not 6 month commitment.scubaangel wrote: »theres 3 months to go on the lease for the house at the moment the thinking is still 'go north' but at the same time I like the area I'm in just wish it was less expensive and I do enjoy working where I do if not the hours and the specific role I have.
So you like everything about your job apart from the job?scubaangel wrote: »But equally I need to not work for/around the military for too much longer, too easy to fall in to the trap of dating people you work around and then looking like the camp bike,
Given the fact you were with ex for years, and all the anguish you're going through just asking Dropped-Hint man, I think you have a way more work to do before getting that reputation.scubaangel wrote: »or actually just becoming the camp bike by reputation because you're out with the lads most weekends.
'Bike' has a specific meaning. If you're not meeting the criteria, then you're not getting the title. Makes people look foolish otherwise.scubaangel wrote: »Wouldn't it just - although to be fair lying on your back doesnt take all that much energy, the plus side being I could read my OU books on the Kindle at the same time

Hmm I beg to differ regarding the gaining of the reputation, its been quite amusing finding out what I've been up to according to the chinese whispers. I only wish I had the time for even half of it!
Its the fun of being friends with blokes not birds around work I guess, a male friend stays in my spare room/we go to the pub and all of a sudden the rumour mill goes back in to over drive. It's worse than primary school at times. Which might actually be part of why I'm being so hopeless at asking dropped hints out, I know as he works at the same place he might be hearing the same rumours I hear - gah, too much thinking is my problem, pity I can't go to work after a few glasses of wine reallyIt’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

There's a difference between gossip and reputation - reputation needs a bit of sustained accuracy. Gossip just needs to be entertaining.scubaangel wrote: »Its the fun of being friends with blokes not birds around work I guess, a male friend stays in my spare room/we go to the pub and all of a sudden the rumour mill goes back in to over drive.
That's because you're not generating any news otherwise.scubaangel wrote: »It's worse than primary school at times. Which might actually be part of why I'm being so hopeless at asking dropped hints out, I know as he works at the same place he might be hearing the same rumours I hear
And not believing them. "So tell me again about Scuba and the three Smurfs...which one was on top?"scubaangel wrote: »- gah, too much thinking is my problem, pity I can't go to work after a few glasses of wine really

Go to work after a few drinks? Not sure the police who lurk on the roundabouts would like me driving after a drink.....
The gossip is entertaining I have to admit, I may have allowed one of the nosier customers 'play' I have never with me and left him with several impressions which are utterly untrue - one of the ejits questions was 'I have never had wipe clean outfits in my wardrobe' wetsuits are wipe clean no? But he doesn't know about my diving and was quite obviously fishing so I let him think what he wanted. Whoops etc. Am quite interested to see what that tidbit comes back as, and how long it takes.
And obviously the smurfs since I'm bigger than them, and as mentioned earlier see no reason to make any actual effort myself
And on that note I need to get to bed, have to be up in the morning to get a train in to Guildford to harrass some coffee shop staff among others and need to work out where on earth I've put my scales and thermometer so I can calibrate them before get the 9am train! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

*rolls up sleeves* Ok, let's dig in a bit here....
First up, Z's right about the whole job thing - locations, jobs, it's all within your control hon...you can say yes or no as you please.
And let's be honest, you have such wonderful aspirations and what with the studying etc. you're working hard for them - why not work out what the next logical step is (be it a new job, new location, new diving gear), and let that guide you.
As to the camp gossip - that's the bind of any close community... play with it, ignore it, challenge it...whatever, just don't take it to heart. And bear in mind that anyone who takes gossip at face value is an idiot - so if Mr Dropped-Hints turns out to be that sort, then he's not good enough for you...so there...nuh... But don't assume or judge him until you know for sure.
ok, that's enough meddling - except to ask how you know you're bigger than smurfs....

Mostly the gossip is amusement, the people who know me know its not true and the rest if they would think to ask would be told the same - but lets face it gossiping is much more fun
Work wise agreed I just need to decide, still looking at work round here but being extremely picky about what I actually apply for, think this week I've applied for one job, and there were none last week. But in the next month or so I need to go see the national agencies and get my latest CV to them so at least then I can start thinking about looking for things elsewhere - if I find a job back 'home' I like the look of as long as I can cover my rent here I know my parents would be happy for me to go back to living with them until I hand this place back and get my deposit so I could rent my own place again.
Study wise at the moment I'm not registered on a winter course, I just can't afford it - and even with the funding I should be eligable for if I was trying to study while I look for new jobs and move I don't think I'd be putting enough work in to it, but I have to get registered on a course starting in spring or I'll lose my transitional fees and have to start paying the new prices for the courses! Then again I might use the £100 from swagbucks towards a short course just to keep me in the studying mind set.....It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

OK had a look at my degree planner and found that I've for a compulsary 10 point course to do at some point - the next presentation starts in October so I signed up for it as it only costs £220, taken the money initially from my car/emergency savings but will replace the first £100 of it from my swagbucks cash when it arrives. I probably won't be able to replace the rest any time soon but I already know I have enough saved to cover next years tax and insurance (assuming I don't do anything daft and lose my no claims etc). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
