  • 50/50 I think. I don't want to be stuck indoors at a desk all day but accept that whatever job I have chances are I'll have some variety of admin to do. The actual work I did then was tolerable, my main issues which cloud my opinion of admin as a work type is that the company I worked for were a really small company and didnt know the difference between up and down and as my role was split between two different depts I was right in the middle of the managers and warehouse staff. So whatever I did someone was complaining - except one of my MD's who was in the early stages of senile dementia and an absolute sweetheart but for some reason they didnt like me spending all day doing the photocopying he wanted doing over the actual admin tasks to help pay bills or arrange trade show stands :)

Yup thats the sort of thing that interests me, hence studying Natural Sciences, although I do very much prefer to be doing things like that underwater or on the seashore. :D

Unfortunately, anyone can count, or pick up litter - so it's never going to be a highly paid job. The fact people will do it for free devalues it even further.

If you want to do something with your diving, there does always seem to be a resonable demand for marine welding - but obviously there's training needed there. How steady are your hands? How good are you at drawing?

  • The commercial aspect doesn't appeal at all, although I did look at doing some of the 'entry' level commercial courses a few years back but the cost put me off as I wasn't convinced I'd want to try to make a living from it.

Work has been muchly fun as usual, tonight was quiet for most of the evening, but as there were two of us I decided to take a hands off approach and let my colleague who will be running the shift when I'm not there tell me what needed doing, as it was quiet I didn't have much to do all evening. :D

    Why?

Just a little quiet? Or unusually quiet?

  • Not quite as quiet as last week but not far off it.

Started making use of the free listing weekend on ebay to attempt to declutter some of the stuff I seem to have accumulated again, so far two listings up....both for 99p starts, so I now need to get motivated to start dealing with the more expensive stuff as well. I've also started photographing things I plan to list on my local facebook selling pages, I figure every single item which is gone by whatever method is one less thing to junk/charity shop when I move out in December (to wherever my ultimate destination is going to be!).

Not quite as useful is the fact that Ive manually entered the info on three or four more CD's I copied on to my gigajuke system and am weeding out some of the duplicate tracks by some of my favourite artists.

  • Just worked out how much cash I need to keep the house ticking over for the next 2 months before I leave it, already have most of next months costs covered by the money in my current account. Will get my pay slip sometime this week and will hopefully have enough once thats paid to cover all the expenses of the next couple of months if I put myself on a seriously tight budget for social spends ie I don't go out without it being a special offer, deal or mystery shop.

Which should in turn mean that the pay I get in early December can either be mainly used to pay off some more of the credit card or be used alongside my current savings to pay the costs of moving house (if I don't decide to move back to the parents). That plus anything I can earn from the varied sources should give me if nothing else plenty of wiggle room budget wise as long as noone expects me to splash out at Christmas.

Yup this was done as an alternative to ebay listing whilst I have decluttered the last 1/2 inch of vodka from one of the bottles in my fridge.

You will still have moving costs even if going to parents. Be careful of those.

    Wiggle room is good.

Half an inch? I thought we were all metric now? ;)

The cost of going 'home' will be van hire and fuel for it as well as my car, there is storage space across three different sets of double garages so shouldn't need to hire space, as long as it doesnt take me too long to find a full time job the costs will be minimal - as the initial deposit for renting my own place again will be covered by the return of my deposit from here.

We're metric when it suits :p

And on that note I need to be going to bed as I just picked up three short notice mystery shops to be done tomorrow morning/lunchtime before work.

Another day at work done, got the happy news that from now on I have my Saturday nights to myself - which leaves me pondering just what it is single skint people do at the weekend other than work?

Also been asked to do two over time shifts this week, so thats some more lovely overtime on to Novembers pay.

And after a very fast walk earlier I'm planning a nice healthy mystery shop for dinner. After which I need to start making a list of all the DVD's I have to dispose of, and as a CeX recently opened in my town I'm going to see how much musicmagpie and CeX will offer me for them then take the higher price and see if anyone from work or on the fb selling pages wants them - one of the girls I work with asked me to bring her a list as she's got some new lodgers in who were talking about wanting some different films to watch but don't have the cash to buy many dvds nor the bandwidth to download/stream films.

Just managed to finish another survey on wonderbug which has pushed me over the redemption threshold so thats another £5 headed towards my bank account.

I've also managed to sort out prices, photos and uploaded to an album on facebook ready to see if I can get shot of them via the facebook page, just need to link the album to the local pages. I've a hand written list to give to the girl at work tomorrow too.
