Can sympathise with you moneysaver, got a stinker here too. We've got sausagemeat hash (similar to corned beef hash), nothing wrong with a little bit of a rib-sticking dinner when you're feeling poorly
. Hope you feel better soon xxx

Spent £23.06 yesterday on this weeks shop (not including milk - this get paid at the end of the month as we have a milkman).
Just to say thank you to everyone who run the GC. I've been following it for a while and my spend has already come down by quite a bit. I'm mostly just trying to keep track of it now.Grocery ChallengeJan £129.83/£130 - Feb £130.51/£130- March £138.26/£130 - April £150.16/£130- May £196.78/£130 - June £127.74/£130 - July £133.51/£130 - Aug £132.21/£130- Sept - £78.89/£130 - Oct £165.44/£130 - Nov - £65.30/£1300 -
Caroline Runner & Need2Bthrifty thank you so very much for your kind words. I am trying to swap my smoking time for boiling the kettle for a cup of peppermint tea and sitting on here catching up on threads. Wish I could put my money into one account to show how much I am saving, but unfortunately smoking is one of those things I would ALWAYS find money for, even if it meant putting a pack on the credit card near the end of the month so I am just going to enjoy closing some overdrafts and credit cards instead. I do have some patches and gum in the house so will hopefully use that until I have run out then I will go back to Dr and get another prescription if i need to.
On a GC note we had left over roast beef tonight with my home made yorkshire puddings which I had frozen in bags and they actually still tasted nice reheated. Just one upset in that I have finally used up the last of the 2KG potatoes I got in for Xmas which means I might need to go and get some more tomorrow, was hoping to have a few NSDs unless anyone can come up with something to serve with the Gammon & Leek crumble? I dont have any salad items in, just brocolli, carrots, onions, garlic and obviously leeks.
Wishing you all a good evening

Hi,
I'm new to the old style boards, been on the debt free wannabe board for a while and want to look at ways if reducing my outgoings.
Can I join in this thread please? I usually budget £50 p/w for 2 adults, 1 child and a cat. I'm going to aim for £45 p/w for now and take baby steps if that's ok?
I've already spent £40 for week 1 of my month and £48.54 for week 2.
I get paid 4 weekly, my next pay is 21st Jan.
Thanks0 -

New to this forum - going to request to join up, but scared by how frugal some folk manage to be. I have always spent loads on food (and so have always been in debt) which needs to change. Encouraged by your budget, but wondering if you've done this before and know you need that much, or are guessing? Please advise me, I don't want to be unrealistic and fail at the first hurdle. Many thanks.:o
And please don't think that you have to go from spending (for example) £1000/month on groceries to spending £50 and installing your own solar panels, divining your own water and whatever else. The GC is there for you to help yourself, cutting down a little month by month is much easier than going cold turkey. Babysteps, babysteps
As for reducing, the easiest first step is - do you buy brands? If so, why not try the downshift challenge? Buy one or two things in the own brand versions and, if you don't like it, no matter - at least you've tried it.
Good luck :T0 -
