I am trying to swap my smoking time for boiling the kettle for a cup of peppermint tea and sitting on here catching up on threads. Wish I could put my money into one account to show how much I am saving, but unfortunately smoking is one of those things I would ALWAYS find money for, even if it meant putting a pack on the credit card near the end of the month so I am just going to enjoy closing some overdrafts and credit cards instead. I do have some patches and gum in the house so will hopefully use that until I have run out then I will go back to Dr and get another prescription if i need to.
Wishing you all a good evening

We are giving up on Monday 9th :T:T:T
Managed it last time for 4 months and hubby got stressed and caved in :mad:
One thing that did help was every week I would take the ciggy money out of the bank and we ceremoniously put it in a sealed tin, it was so wonderful to do thatDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -

That certainly made me laugh mumwithamission, 'curtain twitcher' is certainly a new twist on the title 'long time lurker'! Welcome and don't ever be afraid to ask if you need an answer to something, someone will always have an answer (or two or three ...)! :rotfl:
See you later,

Really eager to deal with my overspending but not sure what's a realistic goal for a newbie. Have hitherto operated an 'if I want it I buy it' system - but that's got me into all sorts of bother
Think I'll plump for £500 for Jan, hoping that doesnt sound too greedy - it terrifies me!!
Loving Motherships Second Purse system (post 6) and have already got that up and running
Hi I'm gearing up to give that a go too, thought it was a great way to do things and welcome I am a newbie tooDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
Kylie, could you tell us where you got all those ace whoopsies please?! I haven't done well on them in the last couple of days. Any top tips for max chances of big discounts?
Rachel, Freya's mum is right, just making a start is a big step forward. I've found meal planning a big help, it cuts down impulse buying stuff that doesn't make a meal, and reduces the chances of having stuff go off in the fridge because there was no real use for it. Like most things (including quitting smoking), it's more about psychology than logic, so whatever works for you is fine. Including this forum!0 -
Gosh just caught up with posts, what a great thread this is
