Forgot the mail order long life candle bulbs from Amazon - 6 for £26.97 means we will def go over as next week's grocery shop to do but nearly OK with it. Just adjusting my expectations  accordingly. Does expose the "invisible" spends that I didn't realise I make.

So far i've spent almost £175. We need to do a major stock up of flour, toms, beans , you name we need it.

Everything just shot up wherever we've gone. On the plus side, the freezer is pretty much packed, so we should be fine as from today it freezer surprise again. Its stocked up with stuff me and the boys have seen reduced or offer. My 11yr old can spot cheap meat from a mile off, my youngest can spot cheese so between the three of us we get quite good deals.

Still got loads of potatoes, onions, eggs and rice so won't need any more of them. So tomorrow think were going shopping so stock of store cupboard items.

This month has been incredibly hard to keep in budget, i can't cope with the pricing's, they vary so much from week to week. But i'll get it sorted somehow.
  • NSD today so far, just need to avoid the trip across the road for a bottle of wine tonight!

An £8.55 spend to declare today on Februarys budget. It was mainly things for the weekend, veggies, tonic water, eggs, vinegar, bacon and a haggis.
  • My nearest aldi is 11.5miles away in sittingbourne. Is it worth the petrol to go and have a look? It seems everyone raves about aldi! Spent £1.78 today on baked pots and puff pastry. Had hoped for NSD but hadn't realised I was out of potatoes! Still very pleased I bought what I needed and nothing else. Couldn't have done that before!

  • Hi all, a couple of spends to report .... £8.07 in the Co*op and £13.62 @ A*ldi tonight which I'm quite chuffed about.

Into Feb's allocation of the budget but quite happy as I got stuff for lunches for the next 2 weeks and toiletries for the month.

There's an A*ldi in the town where I work (but not one where I live) so seemed silly not to go on the way home & get work stuff.

I will unfortunately have to go to Mr A or Mr T tomorrow as A*ldi don't sell "my" milk / bread and neither does the Mr T in the town where I work:mad: - but hoping I don't buy anything else as I have everything I need!:)

Spent £7.96 today - we needed milk. We buy skimmed as I have a cholesterol problem - so used to skimmed now that I have to have black tea when I visit people who have semi skimmed milk - too creamy for me. We get our milk at Ic..... £1 a container.
My month ends on Sunday so I am feeling really good with my total for January. I did have a good stock of food in - but I think I will stick at the same level for next month. I will decide when I post my total for this month. I have already added today's spend to my total.

    Hi All,

I have been reading and not posting as the thread grows at a great rate. Well done everyone on their achievements, fantastic. :T

I think we've done our last shop of the month but we may need another bottle of milk before Tuesday so I'll declare when the month officially ends. Looking good at the moment and we should come in comfortably under budget. Partly though, that is due to me allocating the spends made on loo rolls, the persil I could actually get and the cat food across the coming months. :p If I had included all those spends for January I would now be £40 over budget but doing it this way the things get absorbed into the annual budget. :) Mind you I will start February already having spent £45.23.

Oooh just remembered that I did say to OH we should go and try and get the Coop offer on persil as we have a £2 off £20 spend :D and seeing as how they never had the large offer bottles in MrT. See, good thing I didn't just declare! :rotfl:

Right, I'm off now but good luck everyone for the final straight. :) Keep your chins up and your purses closed and remember that January really is the longest month of the year and it will get easier from here on in. ;)

    All the best,
    Spigs
