My nearest aldi is 11.5miles away in sittingbourne. Is it worth the petrol to go and have a look? It seems everyone raves about aldi!

As a newbie to Ald! just today, I would recommend it. I still had to go to Mr T though. I think I'll uses it every 2nd big shop. Fabric softener only 89p for 2lt, loaf of nice white bread 47p, and I was really impressed with their selection of fruit & veg. Nice big bags of potatoes for 69p in the super 6 this week too.

I'd say give it a go and see how you like it.

(remember your £1 coin for the trolley, rookie mistake!)

My nearest aldi is 11.5miles away in sittingbourne. Is it worth the petrol to go and have a look? It seems everyone raves about aldi! Spent £1.78 today on baked pots and puff pastry. Had hoped for NSD but hadn't realised I was out of potatoes! Still very pleased I bought what I needed and nothing else. Couldn't have done that before!

Definitely give it a go. You'll probably find you can't buy absolutely everything you need but you can get most things. It's much cheaper than the big 4 and the quality is very good. I do most of my shopping there and L1dl now with occasional trips to M&$ and Wa1trose (both of which can be just as cheap or cheaper than Mr Ts!!)
  • Well gone a little over budget but compared to what we would have spent if we hadn't been doing the grocery challenge it would have been a lot worse.

I would like to declare at £260.88 for January please and set my budget for February at £250 agin which should be achievable.

I definitely agree about A*di - I actually frequent the Sittingbourne store myself as I have family in the town. Probably obvious but they also charge for bags, so make sure you have plenty of your own!

Just updating my totals now. Next shop will probably be Monday at MrT as I have a £5 off a £40 spend.

Evening all, just a small spend of 87p on a loaf of bread today. I have £43.19 left for this month's budget. Not sure whether to declare this today and start Feb's budget tomorrow. Don't think we'll be going shopping in the next few days. We have plenty of food to use up and can do without what we haven't got. Going to try and bake my very first loaf this weekend. Wish me luck. :rotfl:
    Hugs to all.
