Thank you Kerfuffle and Lula-Hula! Your posts have made me really happy :D

I'd set myself the challenge of getting debt free by 40. Not buying clothes this year helped me bring my DFD forward and I beat it by 1 year and 4 months.

It's also given me a new perspective on 'wants' and 'needs'. I now don't want to buy any clothes again unless I actually need them. :)

Getting rid of debt has altered my perspective on 'wants' and 'needs', to the extent that now I don't even want to buy the things I need :rotfl:.

And just to keep on topic, no spends for me this month so far, and some garments have been earmarked for stitching, plus I've also started to make a dress with an old pattern I've had for ages and some material that my Mum gave me 2 years ago.

I'm starting to look at clothes as 'customisable' again like I did in my teens. I'm not talented enough to make my own clothes though! Is it a complicated pattern?

Rosa, I've spent nearly the same as you on exercise clothes for boot camp and pole this year - although going to need some new trainers soon as well (yes, actual need as my 'garden' ones have just been consigned to the bin and my current exercise ones are next in line for the garden as over 6yrs old now )

To give you a chuckle, pole attire purchased inlcudes such items as:

    and

    :D:D

(before anyone wonders, it's not usual class wear, it was an outfit for a performance / photo shoot :p)

Brilliant - I have a pair of those wings somewhere, bought them for a Hallowe'en dark angel outfit years ago.

Haven't been to pole for weeks though :( - trying to get on with masters stuff and it's like moving through treacle, so not letting myself out to other stuff. Will pick up again in a few weeks though - notice my back needs work already.

:rotfl:Nope, definitely not - with the exception of my Grandmother teaching me the basics many moons ago, I'm self taught with the aid of a dressmaking book, so everything has to be simple.:rotfl:

Here to confess to clothes spends.

    £10 pair of trousers
    £7 jacket/hoodie thing (originally £14)
    £3 top (originally £6)
    £2 sunglasses (were £4)

    So £22 to confess to.

Really need some new trainers too, mum has ordered me some from her catalogue, but will not add these till i have tried them and seen if i like them

Gosh everyone is doing so well. Really inspiring stuff!

I haven't bought anything in ages - not seen anything that I like or need anyway.

But have decided to sort out the wardrobes again - a proper sort out this time - going to give that company I used before(sends a big sack, fill it up with clothes, they pick it up and they send you a cheque) - Clothes that have popular labels on or a bit different am going to ebay/carboot but the rest is going in the bag.If not worn in three years and it has no sentiment attached to it,it's going.:o

I know I won't get much for most of it,but something is better than nothing.Plus a family member has given me a load of their old clothes,as lost weight, to either ebay or sell so am putting them in the bag too so that will help.

Anyway off to tackle the drawers now.

Catch up with you all soon.

sold a couple of skirts on ebay at £1 each:eek:they cost me a lot more than that even in the sales!bought a dress at east on monday which had just gone in the sale at £55(half price) three days later it is £44:mad:so have ordered one online as even with the postage I gain plus cashback(oh I may have popped a few more items in the basket too:rotfl:)so will take the original back next week.can't believe how soon they reduce things,as I only go to town about once a month or less it is hard to know when to buy.

Have managed to sell the second pair of jeans I bought on fleabay and didn't fit to a friend (well I think her daughter will be having them) - so that £5 back, taking my current total back to £198.78 / £500

I am still counting the £10 on the other jeans that I lost (again didn't fit me) in my total as it was a clothes spend even though I don't actually have anything to show for it - feel it's cheating otherwise.

So, good news is, budget pretty well on track, bad new is that I'm going to the States on business soon and will be there over a weekend, which may mean (if I'm lucky and get any retail therapy) that my budget may get blown out of the water or at least severly dented :o but there are several stores over there I really like and are either too costly in uk (A&F) or we don't have here.
