New Year, New Me is here!

And so a new year is nearly upon us, and what better way to embrace it than with a shiny new diary!
2012 sees me reach the final leg of my debt free journey and embracing life again. My previous diaries (New Year, New me, and New Year New Me the journey continues...) focussed on finding the old me and busting debts along the way. This one is far more focussed on finding out who the new debt free me will be, as I need to start seeing myself as this new person and not as a far away goal.
I have set my debt free date as 23 March 2012, as I'm sure it will be an emotional one, as I move on with my life.
I hope you can join me along the way
New things this year will be eating more healthily, virtually cutting out alcohol and wow, for the first time ever I'll have an ISA with savings in it. Of course there is still OHs debt for which I'll be donating £700/ month until May, but what an achievement.
And last of all, rabbits and deer will not be successful in their attempts to eat our allotment veg!
Over and out.

So getting back to enjoying the simple things. Today I will be taking the new slow cooker for a test drive. I'm very excited to have one of these, as It's almost like having your mother prepare dinner for you while you are at work. Food will be bought with the remaining £20 voucher we got for switching broadband providers .
Other happy thoughts are that my next credit card statement will have interest of £8 and a minimum payment amount of £12. Long time since I've seen it that good! And now that I have cut down my direct debits and made debt payments the minimum salary that I have to survive on is 10k a year. It wouldn't leave any room for holidays, but just to have that thought takes the pressure off. I'm no longer having to stay on a certain salary to simply survive. Good times.

Made another payment today for the cc. It will be a total of 17 payments by the time I make my last one on 13 Jan. I do hope ebay have some free listing weekends soon, I want to get stuff on there and shift this last bit.
Right, need to get my backside in gear and get the soup made, or we'll be eating it for dinner at this rate!

Ok clearly the new diary isn't going to be rant free.
Now that I am sorting out the kitchen, it just keeps stirring up old upset and old anger. For goodness sake it will be four years next year since I moved out of my house, and five years since I was dumped.
I guess the clearing out and moving on thing is stirring things up, as well as mum mentioning this person being pregnant. I have (sorry, had) a set of six plates cups etc. These are the things that I use every day. Now I have cleared out the cupboards I'm forced to look at the fact that I only have four of some things. Now we have cleared out everything that was brought from the house, so the only assumption I can make is that Mr X took a couple of each for himself when we were moving out.
It makes me so angry. These are only pots I know, but I guess I feel that there had been injustice all the way along and that is just the final insult. I was the one dumped for racking up debts (that I was able to pay for by the way, and this was all stuff for our house), I was the one who has pretty much had to lose contact and be looked at like I'm a total b£tch by these people, if I happen to see them on the street. The real issue I feel is that that there was never a line drawn under it, never got to tell my side of the story, and he comes out shining like a star, and I will forever be the bad one. It was my poor reaction and his carp behaviour that pushed me into it in the first place. I should have been the one doing the dumping if anything. Grrr.
Anyway I shouldn't still be this angry and I guess that will only truly go away once this debt is paid off, I'm back in a house that I own, and all the old stuff is gone. Why, why, why do I still feel this angry?

Ok Thrifty, get a grip.
Decided that I need a boost and so I will give OH £500 in February so that I can clear my last bit of debt in feb instead of March, then give him the extra £200 in March. I just need to get this done now.

Had a nice plod around town, looking at lots of lovely things that can be had in the sale this time next year. It was nice to look at all these things I have been craving and thinking that , yes, I'll have savings to buy them next year. Like a nice feather duvet and pillows, and some new towels for the bathroom. Yum.
Got thoroughly soaked, and now just another ten minutes until the crockpot has finished making some lovely minestrone soup. Can't wait.
In true our car style, the ruddy front main light has gone, and it's not just a blown bulb. This also needs to be fixed by tomorrow as we don't want to be pulled over by mister policeman on the drive home. Grrr french cars and their dodgy electric bits.

Hope you're feeling less stressed. It's amazing how we hang onto these emotions even once we've mentally and physically moved on.
Ooh, 8 weeks until DFD!! It must feel so exciting! I remember when we cut the credit cards up for good nearly a year ago. It's been hard but so satisfying knowing that we've not been adding to the debt but slowly chipping away. I can't imagine how excited I will feel when we are as close as you.
Well done on your journey and enjoy those christmas 2012 sales!!"I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0
