Hit that stage myself. Decided i am going to make one big change in my life. Finally time to move out. I'm the son who has not fled the nest yet and know its well past time i should have.
Anyone else looking at making big changes next year?
Good on you for planning to leave home and start up on your own. God you make me feel old though. I took that step nearly 22 years ago now when I went to Uni. It can feel daunting and a bit scary at first but in no time you get use to it and it is an exciting and enjoyable new phase of your life.
As for any big changes I am making next year, well life is about to take on a whole new change in my house. I am pregnant with twin girls that are due next week, just getting slightly excited and terrified all rolled into one. I went on maternity leave two weeks ago after working as a teacher for 14 years. Feels very strange not to be going back to work next tuesday and being a sahm for at least a year. Im sure I will adapt and love it though.
Happy 2012 everyone.0 -
I wish you luck. Have you been over to Gamblers Anonymous?
For me, I'm going to finish my novel
Thank you. no i havent, but i have been to the Gamcare site, and have had counselling. I now have no money,, but not through gambling through paying off my debts and i no in time the money will start being mine again
Plan is to be debt free aside from my student O/D next year. How did I let it get such a mess? :eek:0 -
Good luck everyone

I don't want to call them resolutions as they get broken and then it can be really disheartening and you don't want to keep trying to get them back on track.
This year I am:
Going to lose weight. I did in 2010 and lost 5 stone. I haven't put it all back on (just 1 stone), however 2011 kicked off in such a massive downer and stayed that way that convinience food was the way forward (not even hundreds of takeaways, just something quick and easy to bung in the oven!) because I was so tired after dealing with my grandad, especially May-July. We spent an entire month doing 12 hour days emptying his house that was so full of so much hoarded stuff that Monday-Friday for four weeks (2 weeks upstairs and 2 weeks downstairs) that we had the charity shop ford transit van calling twice a day and we filled it to the brim EVERY TIME.
Be proactive with my grandfather. My grandfather isn't a very nice man and we have been his carers for coming up to 16 years. It's been a lot more time consuming over the past few years as we've become more involved leading up to this year where needs us for everything. This past year he was diagnosed with dementia, spent time in respite due to severe DT's, stopped drinking in May, broken his elbow, had his mobility seriously reduced, become unable to leave the house without support (when he used to go out every day) and a lot more...
This year I'm going to send letters to people he deals with (like npower) etc to let us deal with his affairs so we don't need to ask him for permission each time as unfortunately as his dementia increases that will become harder. I'm also going to get the LPA sorted within the next couple of months, get his refund back from Npower (with his permission) and get a new washing machine for him as now he's finally letting us do his washing (trust me, you really don't want to know, record is 14 days in the same clothing and underwear which includes sleeping in the same undies and tshirt and just putting the trousers and shirt back on in the morning.) we need something up to the job that hasn't had the rubber near the door perish amongst other things I'm going to sort....
Get more active and get more fresh air.
Keep batch cooking Have a new combi microwave oven and a halogen oven bought in the last 2 days to go alongside my cooker. I LOVE cooking (hate washing up but that's another story) and I love to keep the freezer filled up but I didn't have the time or energy mos tof the time last year.
Old Style Forum I'm totally born in the wrong era
I should have been a 50's housewife and love reading the Old Style Forum but I never do it enough. I want to streamline everything and do all sorts that's on there.... I think I should start a binder to keep things in my memory! Princess Sparklepants0 -
Hmmm, not sure what 2012's going to hold for me. I do know that in January I shall be 50 and that's gonna take a bit of getting used to. It's not that 50's old.... more that the age signals a passing of time, concrete evidence that you've probably had over half your life
There's so much I want to do still but for now I'll just say I'll get used to being 50 and work on making my little business profitable :j
Happy 2012 everyone, whatever it brings!0 -

I will no longer bite my tongue in order to keep the peace. My family have a tendency to verbally bully me and I fall into the trap of trying to justify myself to them. Not anymore. I'll tackle the behavour not in an agressive way but in an assertive way. I wouldn't want a friend in my life who behaved like that with me, so I shall no longer put up with it from my family.
I will continue to do everything I can to help people, but on MY terms. I will stop re-arranging my schedule to fit round theirs. I'll do it, but in a way and a time that suits me.
I have far too much "stuff" in my house that I neither need nor really want any longer. I have been ruthless in getting rid of the larger items like furniture I no longer need, but now I'll start with all the small stuff. Less things to dust or wash and iron!
They're all positive things to do and I'll do them in a positive way.

Time to get started with the plans people.Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.0
