So its that time of year when you start looking at yourself and planning

So Christmas is over, were looking towards the new year and its this sort of time you start reflecting on your life. Where you are, what you have done and what you intend to do.

Hit that stage myself. Decided i am going to make one big change in my life. Finally time to move out. I'm the son who has not fled the nest yet and know its well past time i should have.

I think the main reason i have not done so yet is simply fear of affordability but then again i have just done a benefits check online and it returns that i may be eligible for working tax credit. Which i am not claiming at the moment and looking at the amount shown it would cover about half my rent, so thats opened my eyes a bit.

Recently changed job locations and feel i need to have the same kick up the backside in my homelife.

Another aim is to start a new relationship but the house moving is going to be my priority.

Anyone else looking at making big changes next year?

Well I done the moving out/country this year, so next year I'm not sure really. Give birth to my baby and see OH complete his university degree and after that hopefully if we find the time, will be able to find a house we can imagine our son growing up in and move in to it :o

Good Luck with the moving out though, it's the best thing I ever did :) the saddest too though as I miss it.

I've thought about selling up and moving to another area, there's nothing keeping me here anymore. The only thing that keeps me here is 'i've always been here'. And i'm a worrier ............ what if this happens .......... what if that happens.
I wish i were more impulsive.

    Thats child tax credit.

Working tax credit is different (Following text nicked from a govt website):

What type of tax credits can you get?
You may get one of the following - or both.

    Working Tax Credit
Working Tax Credit is based on the hours you work and get paid for, or expect to be paid for. You can claim whether you're an employee or a self-employed person. But unpaid work doesn't count for Working Tax Credit.

What counts as work for Working Tax Credit?
    Child Tax Credit
Child Tax Credit is paid to you if you are responsible for at least one child or young person who normally lives with you. You don't have to be working to claim Child Tax Credit.

Just been doing a bit of searching, found one that would be ok for me. Might take a de-tour on the way home from work in the morning (work nights and in tonight) to pass it.

  • I have been a carer for my mum for the last 15 odd years, she went into a nursing home 2 months ago, so this year is all about me and the children..

    1) Empty and sort every single drawer and cupboard in the house. My house is spotless on the surface, I have to open cupboards praying everything isn't going to fall out and crush me in a pile of never-used-but-may-come-in-useful-one day cr*p.

    2) Find a job and actually leave the house to work. Obviously gave up work to look after mum, and have been desperate to go out to work for the last two years. Not sure how easily manageable that is going to be as ds is ASD and doesn't cope at all with change, so would need to be school hours with holidays off, lol

    3) Attempt to create a bit of a social life for myself. Can't remember the last time I went out of an evening. 2006 I think.

    4) Sort out finances and stop spending on stuff I seriously don't need.

That's it I think, all doable.
