Don't be! Change for it's own sake can be an expensive and time-consuming mistake...my annus horribilis was 2007 and I have been resistant to making big plans ever since.

Me too, perhaps being a big operative as I am nursing a shattered heart atm.

  • Wow! what inspirational people you all are. I don't (didn't) have any plans for 2012, but after reading all yours, I may have a re-think.

Good luck with all your plans and dreams :)

I am really glad this thread had inspired some of you into thinking the same way, i just hope they all stay positive and don't go the other way with a response of 'Thanks, you have just inspired me to divorce my husband/wife/have an affair' etc. . :):)

Seriously what ever your plans, best of luck to all.
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.
  • I'm getting a new kitchen, work starting on 9th Jan so looking forward to that and less clutter (will have more cupboard space)

I joined the gym at work last year but hadn't been for a few weeks leading up to Christmas so I want to get back into a routine with that and carry on losing weight at the same time.

Give up smoking - I've made a significant start (for me) I've only had 2 smokes since Christmas Eve morning.

Lovely thread x I have the same plans this year .... and determined to stick to them!

1 - Lose 6 stone in weight. My promise to myself is to walk to work every day except when I have an important meeting. Its approx 2.5 miles there and then 2.5 miles back so 5 miles a day minimum.

2 - Keep a spending diary. I hope by doing this I can cut the rubbish spending and start saving the pennies. Even if it's saving £2/3 a week to start.

3 - Learn another language. It's something I have always wanted to do and now have the opportunity though work to learn itallian. (Should be interesting :-D)

4 - Hopefully sort my OH medicial issues out. We have until the end of March to sort out his treatment as his ESA finishes due to the new rule. He will not be eligible for income related benefit, because of my wages, and he will not be entitled to JSA because of his injury so we will lose £88.50 a week and need to come up with otherways to find money to eat and survive the week.

5 - Not to let people wind me up so much. I know this out of all my list will be the hardest but I am determined to try and keep my cool with certain members of staff at work and also with so called "long lost family members"

I haven't made any resolutions as such, but need to think about either re training, or doing something different, as I am totally bored and disillusioned with teaching:(:(:(

  • 1. Lose weight. I say this every year but I really do need to. I lost almost 4 stone a couple of years ago and put it back on. I need to be harsh and reduce the amount of treats I eat that I shouldn't, crisps and cheese :( I know it's complete and utter common sense but I've done it before, I will do it again. As part of this I need to get out and do more exercise. I need create some meal plans.

    2. Desperately need to move house, for my sanity! This will be a work in progress, easier said than done.

    3. I need to look for a new job. Jobs in the area I am qualified in have been pared back to the bone as part of money saving cuts. I'll look for jobs in related fields.

    4. I need to start saving. Having been made redundant over a year ago, we've been scraping by but not had any spare money to save. I would like a decent rainy day fund in case of emergencies.

    5. I've got a small overdraft to pay off (Around £200), need to clear it asap just for my peace of mind.

    Mine are to

    a) Finally pass my driving test. I failed my last test in November so January definitely is the time, it'll make such a huge difference to my life if I do

    b) Forget about my ex and move on. I was treat like rubbish and didn't see it until a few days ago and over Christmas when I didn't even get a text. Very cruel and very bad mind games. So January 1st, the texts, pictures, memories will all be gone and a fresh start.

I think thats all! Apart from trying to spend much more time with my Grandparents, this is the first year I'm starting to wonder if they'll be around next year and the year after.
  • I'd like to add another one to mine. I'm going to sort out my friends. There are so many people in my life that I only hear from when I text them, when I call them, when I go to see them. It I didn't make the effort then I wouldn't hear from them. I'm fed up of being the only one to put the effort in so I'm not going to.
