How do I turn the screensaver off?

To turn the Kindle off just slide and HOLD the power switch until the screen goes blank.

You know that you can adjust the brightness?

No matter how much I adjust it the screen is never as comfortable for reading as the Kindle.

Kindles are deliberately not backlit so they don't strain the eyes in the way a backlit screen (ie one on a laptop or ipad) will. In the long-term you are better off reading a Kindle than a backlit screen. :)

I can alter the brightness etc on my ipad and it suits me fine. Its not a competition about what is best. I am pleased for you that you have a kindle and enjoy it, i am pleased for me because i love my ipad and enjoy using it as a kindle as one of its many features.

It's unfortunate that the Ipad is no good in sunlight really whereas the Kindle is unaffected by it.

Yep, iPad impossible to sit and read in a sunlit conservatory, Kindle is fine.

I convinced my OH to buy me an iPad for book reading last year, I think I read half a book on it before I gave up. As I'd said it was too heavy for me to hold and read. iPad has never been used for books since apart from the few days DD attempted to read something on it and also gave up.

When I asked for a kindle for Xmas I got the 'but what was the iPad for?!!' speech lol. Had to explain and now he's sat and viewed both he does see where I'm coming from.

I think iPads are fab don't get me wrong, wouldn't be without mine, but for me personally my kindle beats it hands down as a book reader.

This is one of the best books of its kind that I have bought. I found the Indian curries in here a lot better than the ones in the curry secret and a lot less fussy.

In particular the south indian garlic chilli chicken and jalfrezi were exceptional. Stay away from the Korma though it was revolting 3 - 4 table spoons of sugar made it taste like a desert.

I also enjoyed the doner kebab, chicken nuggets and macdonalds breakfast.
