Planes vary - AerLingus never tell you to turn it off Easyjet and Ryanair do. Transatlantic I have also been told to.

A huge thank you to all who post the comps and deals that make life so much fun!
  • thanks..will try to figure out how:)

When on home page press menu choose option 'Create New Collection'. When you've read a book use right hand arrow on 5 way controller this will give you option to transfer book to the collection.:T
  • I want a Kindle 3G.
3G much better from my point of view in being able to download books from anywhere.
The Downside is that E Book Editions are too high. I would love to see that change.
*running Kindle Desktop for Windows 57 books so far and counting the Kindle is soooo tempting*

  • 12 Days of Kindle temptations galore. I wish they would have such reductions the rest of the Year? especially on the type of books I like to read Academic Texts which I buy as cheap as possible.

The iPad screen is far too bright to read comfortably

You know that you can adjust the brightness?

Can you use a Kindle on a plane or does it have to be switched off when they request that you shut down electronic devices?

Just got back from a lovely trip to Prague with Easyjet flights. I was rather dismayed that I had to turn the kindle off for take off and landing - was asked specifically by the Air Stewardess who passed by. Had to resort to the in-flight magazine for a few minutes!

I was told that it is too complicated for them to allow some devices to be on and others off - there are far fewer arguments with passengers if they have a blanket policy of 'no electronic devices on take off or landing.' Whilst this was mildly frustrating, I can understand the issue - it's only a few minutes each way after all.
