    Hi.
I think it might be because its the 1st of the month. All the offers I've been getting through recently expired on 31st Jan, so maybe wait a few days and trya again, or keep on eye on this thread and I'm sure the next person to recieve an offer code will let you know?

Or ring them and say you've seen the 5 for £5 on the website but it won't let you buy it - I'm sure they will apologise and do it on the phone for you, they are generally pretty good.

Thanks for that. I got impatient and ordered it anyway, got 13 issues for £25 so didn't seem too bad to me. Looking forward to it arriving now!

  • morning ladies, lovely work everyone is doing

    need a little help
i have decided to tackle my first heaven and earth GARNET

i have the pattern but i would like to do it on aida the thought of linen terrifies me lol

    the instructions say

    Fabric: linen 25, white
    400w x 600h stitches

    Size: 25 count, 16w x 24h in

what would this be for aida with enough round the edge for framing? and what count aida would you recomend?

also i would need a lap frame for this what would you recommend? as i like my material to be super tight and on my roller frames it just doesnt go tight enough!

hope you all dont mind all these questions i just really dont want to mess it up by not having enough material or something !!!

    thanks everyone
    xxx

    Hi Maria

Just had a look at the fabric, for 400x600 on aida you are looking at:

    14ct - 28.5 x 42.8 = 33 x 47in

    16ct - 25 x 37.5 = 30 x 42in

    18ct - 22.2 x 33.3 = 27 x 38in

The first figure is the design area, the second figure allows for your excess fabric round the edge

I would recommend that you go with 16ct aida if you like using it, but I usually stich my HAED's on 14ct and they look fine (you just need to take one more step back for the full effect lol) The reason is that I find it easier to stitch on, and if I used a smaller count I would find it harder to keep at it and it would be more likly to end up as a UFO :o

I can only recommend the lap frame from sewandso - I have never used anything else since I bought mine, so am somewhat biased:rotfl:

Good luck with your new project :T

Hello all, I am posting here in the hope it gives me some encouragement to finish all my cross stitch kits!

I used to do a lot of cross stitch, but for the last 3 years or so due to various reasons I haven't really done any.
This week I've finally got round to unpacking all my sewing stuff (I moved here 8 months ago, still got boxes to unpack, lol!), and have started doing cross stitch again.

Current UFOs (all started years ago!):
    1. 13x13cm zinnias (http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Zinnias__DIM-7213.aspx - yes I know not actually cross stitch this one but close enough!)
    2. Tiny 3D old-fashioned pub (http://www.3dcrossstitch.co.uk/store.cfm?Do=Detail&ProductCode=KMICASTLE&Buy=True)
    3. A bookmark that just needs the backing sewn/fixed on
    4. About 4 of these snowmen http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran1466-0.html that appear to be almost finished, just not got the hats/toys fixed on. Got about 8-10 more of the snowmen which are haven't been started - I'm going to finish them all by Christmas, 11 months should be long enough.
    5. I've also got what looks like 3 larger kits which I've started but which were all mixed up in a carrier bag - I think I'll leave these for now, until I can face sorting them all out!

    Wish me luck!

You're not being a pain! That's the one I have, I found the smaller one does me fine, it's got 2 different sized sides on it anyway and I just roll and pin the excess fabric.
