I've got quite a few sampler charts and kits as well as books on their history.
I think I'd like to try and use them for several projects like samplers and then incorporate them into several others.
The other idea I have is based on things I've seen. There is a beautiful needlepoint store in Breckenridge, Colorado that I frequent after skiing - I've bought a couple of small hand painted canvases there and they tend to use a whole variety of thread types and stitches in their pieces, so I guess that maybe I have something like that in my head.0 -

Yes I agree. I often wonder where they get these time estimates from? I wrote into a cross stitch mag many years ago to ask how to work out how long it would take to stitch a design and they replied to say that for one square inch of cross stitch, they estimated one hour.
I remember that kit. I also recall how many grumbles there were about the quality of the thread which I agree with. At the time, the thread numbers were posted on the facebook page for WOCS but I have had a look today and it would seem WOCS have removed the relevant posts.
I don't understand why the thread supplied with this kit (and indeed other kits) is of such poor quality - if you buy dmc or anchor thread then its good quality thread and not the same as what you get in a free kit so just what are we being given with these free kits?
For example, I received Cross Stitcher yesterday. Its a koala kit which is sweet and I shall probably stitch but I don't like the feel of the threads and the eyes that they have supplied with the koala kit are all squashed ? and not usable reallyalthough I don't really get why they have stuck eyes to the finished design ?
PS Thinking of you and your family Soulie. Have only just caught up with the posts today.
Thank you
It really does make you wonder what kind of thread they are using, 'cause I know for a fact it aint DMC. Must be some non-branded stuff!13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

I have colour matched (tried anyway) and see what you think of dmc 912 for light green and 911 for dark green...
is it possible (economical?) that they dye the threads especially for the free kits ? but it still beckons the question of what exactly they are using ??0 -

I will have a look through my stash a little later to see if I have 912, (or even a similar matching colour heh).
And yep, it is VERY possible that they dye their own.13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

Wow things have brightened up this week pm. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Haven't done any stitching since mid week but will post an update pic tomorrow.
Catching up with DOI now and I find its one of those programmes that I really need to watch - with both eyes instead of just one now and again
Take care everyone
