Updates look really good. Like the beading detail? on fairy. Her boots look really cute. I can't help with software q except to say 'pc stitch 10' does it, so if you can get a demo version or send me a pic I could try for you. Btw where did you get the fish patterns, still thinking of doing something similar for Oh's dad for his b'day next year. (xmas is too soon)0

Agree with the :j for Tom Daley - loving the celebrations - and poor Qui Bo, he must be under an awful lot of pressure but like they said the competition was so fierce and it is a sport so you can't win every time.
Didn't stitch a thing again yesterday although I did pick it up once during the day but olympics and two children needed me more. Have got to get it done though as my friendly framer is ready and waiting to frame it!
So much to do and so little time to do it, and that's while I'm on holiday, no chance when I'm back at work!
Anyone know anywhere cheap to buy buttons? Have a friend who does bead bracelets etc and she wants to start doing button bracelets and I've seen some nice button cards I want to have a go at for Christmas but don't want to pay over the odds for buttonsMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Hello Everyone
Hope everyone is well and who needs a hug can have one. I still dumbstruck at the news of that wee girl - can't quite believe it. How could someone do such a thing. I know I work in the justice system but I think prison would be too good for them.
Enough politics. Not seen much of the olympics been so busy with work but been watching wee bits here and there esp when a Scot wins a gold
Ok on to the stitching. Finished the wee wedding stitch and yes its in that famous frame (thank you Louise) from £land. It is one of the smaller ones only took a couple of evenings to do - so quite pleased with it. Need to do more work on the birth one.
I hope they like as I don't really know the couple - the girl works in the same office as me but a different dept (we work in open plan - yuk - but have to live with it).
Also talking of work, not done an update page of my blue sampler part one for you for a while - so here it is:
So now at home I will finish off doing the birth sampler (same bear but wording differently) and then maybe back to my lavender stitch. Might order some magic aida/evenweave 25hpi to do the floral garland year I found the threads and pattern for. I have been saving about £5 each month so I can order the material without denting the money we have too much.
Well the sun is out - Sam is sunbathing - making a big pot of chilli for freezer and some granola bars to take to work to have as my mid morning snack (my breakfast piece as we call it).
Keep well everyone
sweetcarer
PS here is Sam sunbathing ... have a nice day!:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Sweetcarer; Sam certainly looks like he's enjoying himself! I really like your blue fabric sampler. Have a bit of a weakness for those.
I have cross stitched that wedding pattern, it's so nice, isn't it when it's all framed up. She will be so pleased with it.
Maria; My s.i.l. would really like the fishy picture. He's another fishing addict. (not that we complain when we get free fish!)
You have to look at the quilt squares one at a time rather than how many left to do, then it doesn't seem so daunting! Like the fairy in her boots!0 -

My copy has scarcely been looked at - too busy watching Olympics in every spare minute I have but here are my thoughts on the latest issue I am also way behind on just reading the posts here never mind commenting on them. Oh well normal life will resume next weekWell, I picked up Cross Stitcher this morning and after a quick flick through, I am not impressed.
Free gift - always handy to have another pair of scissors as mine often wander off
Like these as a gift
Top of the class badges - look too messy for me
Like the idea but not the execution - like you I think they look too messy. I also couldn't decide whether the red one was supposed to be Prefect rather than Perfect
Carnival - colours don't seem to go together or that may just be me
No it's not - I agree
Caravan cushion - nice. If my parents still had their 'van, I might have stitched this
Like this but hasn't made it to the to do list. I liked the article about Jacqui Pearce and loved her underground cushion
Beetle - yuck!!
Why would anyone bother to stitch something like this?? But it is clearly that designer's "thing" so presumably she does have fans of her designs
Animal magic - not sure about these.
I like the look of these but I wouldn't xs them - they would be so much quicker to do as applique stitcheries
Safe as houses - might use them as individual elements rather than the complete image shown
Not keen on the colours again
Country kitchen - too pale for me
Ok but nothing special
Scrabble tiles - might be useful for something but wouldn't make necklaces from them as shown in the magazine!!!
Agree about the necklace idea but they would be great for cards, coasters, notebook covers etc for anyone who likes scrabble (and as this includes me I have bookmarked this page for future use
School motifs - might be useful for my craft fair items
Again I thought they looked messy
Peacock feather in linen - not for me
I like this
Leaves - might be useful I suppose
Not sure of the colour choices again
At least no adverts for bras, stairlifts or plants in this magazine.
A good point although I don't like the fact that subscribers no longer get their own pages - instead we have a DPS about the benefits of subscribing
Looks like I wil lbe selling this one on and next month's looks even worse. I like the look of Snow Days and the Sewing Gifts

I actually had to read this bit twice as where I live it is common to call the girlfriend "the bird".....:rotfl:;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
Couldn't beleive it when my copy arrived - it cannot be a month since the last issue - where is the year disappearing to? Good thing there wasn't anything I wanted to stitch in the last issueMy favourite Magazine just dropped through the door - World of Cross Stitching
Free Gift - Fizzy moon xmas card. Quite sweet
I like this as I think the mount really sets it off
Where the heart is - It's not often I will like a cottage-y design but this one looks lovely and wouldn't take too long to do.
Pretty
Letters page - no sign of the pic I sent in (didn't even get a reply to my email tbh)
How rude - doesn't quite match the "we love to see what you've been stitching" comment in the editorial
Little Rascals - Some cute designs there for animal lovers
Not for me
Beauty & Grace - three ballerinas. I doubt I would stitch the pink one but my daughter and niece would appreciate the other ones.
Liked these and especially like the way they have stitched one onto a bag although my GD already has a hand made bag for her ballet shoes - a friend of mine machine stitched a ballerina and I made a bag using the stitched piece as a pocket
Craft Xtra - Yuk, I REALLY don't like the bear/sunflower
Not keen
Knot Garden - Don't like it at all
My favourite design in the magazine though I doubt I would stitch the whole piece - instead Ilan to stitch the 2 designs individually and use them for coasters or scissor fobs/needlecases (that's my plan anyway :rotfl:I love designs with different counted stitches especially using variegated threads
Summer Memories - AOY - It's lovely, although I don't stitch many of these it's mainly due to time restrictions. (It would be lovely to stitch for someone with 5 grandchildren, the boy/girls could be changed slightly to suit)
Agree with your comments
Design Library - Woodland Fun - I'm sure some of them may be useful
Too cartoony for my taste
Pg 57 - Apparently readicut has a new disney range - price seems reasonable. I need to see what other designs they have
They look quite different to the usual Disney designs
Acorn Sampler - Not for me. Too dull
I like this though it's not what I want to stitch at the moment
Cupcake of he flippping month - I'll be glad when these are finished. Obviously I won't be stitching them lol
Awful
Pg 68 - Loving all the Stash secrets (I daren't share mine with them lol)
The woman with LOADS of drawers for all her threads - Wow. I would love to have. so much space that I could do that lol
Fascinating article. Love the wooden unit with the drawers etc which looks like a standard piece of furniture. I have a Horn cabinet for my sewing machine which does the same sort of thing and it is FAB and i would love this unit for my XS stuff
Playtime ABC - I would only use individual letters to make a card, couldn't see me doing a whole name with those letters.
Quite nice for cards - like you I would only use 1 letter at a time
Autumn Window - Not so keen on this one, I preferred the summer window
OK but nothing special
Friendship angels - Cute but not something I would stitch
really like this and love the way it has been finished as a cushion
Overall - not too much to add to my To Do list this month...but I guess that's a good thing really:rotfl:
Nothing stands out in the preview of next month and I hope they still do a stitching diary as well as the calendar0
