Well I'm quite excited just about to do my first order to Across Town! I was going to wait until I had most of the patterns I want/need to do over the next few months, but once I saw how many I had planned I can easily order the 50 threads and catch up later for the other ideas.
I am tring to use my time resting as cross stitchy as possible so there is no point in waiting any longer - I started the wedding sampler - thanks scotflower! - yesterday! Charting the black aida with thread was the worst bit - but it does seem to have speeded me up once I have started the stitching!
Oh how much do we all love online shoppping!!!!!!!!!:j0 -
Pfft to whoever said Winnie The Pooh kits are lame
The first kit I did was Winnie the Pooh and I thought it looked adorable when finished

Hi all. Just got back from the Boots 75% off sale & found some bits which could be used for stitching. There's some tree decs with space for a photo, also snow globes, paperweights and cards. All at bargain prices-paperweight was £5, now £1.25, snow globe was £6, now £1.50 etc. Of course you could put photos in them too, but stitching is more fun! Very tired & in need of a cuppa now.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I haven't been on here since before Christmas and was shocked to find so many pages to catch up on.
I absolutely adore all of the projects that people have posted either as works in progress, or completed.
I also really liked the refurbed cantilevered box one of you had received as a gift.
Couple of questions please:
1. Several posts referred to chinese versions?
2. I've been given some DMC light effects but they are not in their original boxes - do I split them like normal DMC threads?
3. How does the 15 thing work? Do you have 15 projects that you work in rotation?
4. Why on earth do we buy for other people at all? Why don't we all just buy ourselves something we would like/want/need instead!!!
Speaking of Christmas, I have seen one of those hidden word trees spelling Colorado.
Saw a beautiful Christmas stocking made by a friend of a friend out of either the L&L winter or celtic angel - the sweep of the skirt was the perfect shape for a stocking.
Next year I want to do something quick and easy with a sheep for a friend. Does the blackwork owl have a sheep friend?
So I'd best go and make a list of my cross stitch resolutions for ufo's and new kits. Another friend wants some Kachinas stitched - she gave me the chart and told me which two she likes.
I can't complain as we were in a charity shop last week and saw a glass dome with a thimble stand inside and the whole collection of thimbles in it and it was £17, which she bought for me cos I loved it and I'm seriously broke.0 -
Welcome to the newbies
I'm another one that doesn't think Winnie is lame! I spent most of my teenage years stitching Pooh/Eeyore/Piglet/Tigger designs, and still love them now, although I don't tend to stitch them anymore.
b_e_g - we have one of those laminators, I'd never even thought of using it for cross stitch though.
No stitching today for me. Me and hubby went food shopping and noticed a huge nail stuck in the suddenly flat tyre as we came out of the supermarket. Hubby managed to drive it to a tyre place, but by the time we got it fixed and home the frozen/fridge food had spent over 3 hours out of chilled conditions. I'm just hoping we don't get food poisoning!! Oh, and then the 'repaired' tyre decided to start a slow leak as I was driving back from the kids swimming lessons this evening
Definitely need stitchy time to chill me out this evening! Plus my mum gave me some money so I can pick a new kit. I'm starting to get nostalgic for Winnie the Pooh after all the talk of it, so I might see if I can find one I like
PP- glad the interview went well, fingers crossed for you.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
I'm looking for a particular issue of the Cross Stitcher Magazine.
It's issue number 195 from January 2008. (It has a unicorn on the front cover, but that isn't the design I want from it)
There's one on EBay but as I'm broke, I'd prefer to swap for another
magazine, a chart, skeins of thread, some front cover freebie kits or other cross stitch related items that I have here.
Fingers crossed that someone can help out. Thanks.0
